Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

"maybe"?

Come on bruh. Not even close.
The stacked team stuff is garbage. Before the salary cap there were a lot of "stacked" teams because, and this is the key...there wasn't a cap. The Niners? Packers? The NFC BEAST? It was a different era. All things being equal, Troy was the best of any of the 3 being discussed.

Troy with 2014, 2016, ...bank on it.

Stupid question followed by who cares? THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS WINNING, PERIOD!!!

Aikman played with hall of famers. But I don’t knock him for that. It’s not necessarily about the names with Dak and Romo. It’s about the teams. How many rings should Dak and Tony have around Garrett and Wade Phillips as coach? How many rings should Dak have with Mazi Smith at DT or Jaylon Smith at linebacker? How many rings should Romo have those years Nate Livings and Bernadeau were his linemen?

The game has changed but one thing that hasn’t is the trenches being important to winning and the head coach. No one is serious about winning with Wade Phillips as head coach. I can’t even imagine Troy trying to win that way.
100% right on. Thats also the reason why Aikman wanted out of Dallas. He knew it was starting to become a circus there. When the team was average around him, so was his play. It truly takes a team to win.

I like acr...good bloke. But between both Dak and Tony..maybe 2-3 years sporadic decent teams. 2016 was tilted toward stacked mainly because Zeke and our best O-line since with fredbeard.

But compared to Troy? Not even close. Between players and coaches...not even close.

Taking nothing away from Aikman. Rock solid...mentally and physically a beast.

Could you say Tony or Dak could have done the same with that team? No...you can't because it didn't and never will happen. And my opinion is they might have wilted under that team, division and that era of football although Romo was in the cross over time.

Would Aikman excell in 2016 thereafter? I do believe he would have done at LEAST as well...and likely better due to his strengths and TRUE leadership. Not pats on the butt but CHEWING of the butts.

Some of the Speakeasy crew said Dak was better than Aikman and Romo. Romo can be contested but to say Dak is better than a HOF, and one of the most accurate playoff QB in NFL history, is absurd.

Aikman was a far better college QB and pro QB than Dak. No disrespect to Dak, but "I know Troy and you sir (Dak) are no Troy Aikman.
Dak’s better than Romo who was great IMO but Aikman and Roger are the best.

I get that our team was stacked back then...but they still lost games so they weren't unbeatable. The upper tier teams were all stacked.

Bleh, I hate when I type too fast and don't check my work...meant to finish with Troy would have won tings in 2015 and 2016

I'm not convinced that many peopel disagree with you.

It doesn't mean any certain player is immune from credit or criticism.

I also think a lot of people are hypocritical about it.

Just an example not comprehensive but:

If dak loses it's a team game
If he wins he's a top 5 QB.

Stupid question regarding Aikman, of course he’s not. You have to perform in the playoffs to even be considered for that conversation.

As for him and Romo? I would say it’s 6 of one, half dozen of the other… At least at this point. There’s really nothing that separates either one from the other.

I think that is a bit of a lazy take. Like you don't have the ability or lack the wherewithall/interest to deep dive into their abilities.

For example...when did Romo ever have 2 WR like CeeDee and GeePee? So there are some details around them that matter, and effected outcomes.

Totally okay if you just want to shrug and not bother with them. I get it.

A lot more parity now, but Dak is a Super Bowl away from going ahead of Aikman.

He might come close to doubling Romo and Aikman in yards and touchdowns....those stats and records are gonna be used heavily in general GOAT arguments like them or not.

But yes, I get Troy was astonishing in those 2 SF games in 1992 and 1993, namely the first one. Those are coincidentally the games that drag Daks name down. And yes, I get that the 90s was a rougher period to play the position.
You mispelled GOTI

Yeah I agree it’s a lazy take…lol

Not when it comes to Aikman comparisons, but with Romo…yeah. I’d personally pick Romo over Dak.

But when we are talking about player careers that are pushing 10 years… I tend to judge playoffs, success/performance over everything else

This room is stuffed full of people who think Dak is better than Troy.

Hard to choke with a Dynasty.
Funny enough, the argument is Dak needs to be surrounded by talent to be successful, yet Aikman was surrounded by arguably the most talented team ever, and at least top 5 most talented team ever. Once that talent started to disappear because of FA, the stats, and success started to dry up, and injuries started to pile up. And this coming from a huge Aikman fan (and Dak fan, and Romo fan, and Staubach fan).

Anyone who says Dak is better did not watch Aikman’s career….or playoffs. He didn’t have to rack up stats with Emmitt there but he sure could have if that was the desire. His leadership alone is miles above Dak’s too.
They don't understand the difference between the offense we run today and the one that was ran in the 90's. They also think that Dak would get the same amount of yards as he would now, even though Emmitt Smith would be on the team and the philosophy was to wear the defense down by running it down their throats and slow down the game. There is no consideration that defenses could unload on your wideouts if you go across the middle, which would get them penalized in today's football. They think it is the same game, Today, as it was back then.

no, probably more skilled given it is almost 40 years since Troy played and players do get better over the years but no, there is no way he is better than Troy

Hey, we will get Mr. "you don't know football" on here next, picking Dak, next. He will be complete bliss in ignorance on why we always laugh when he tells someone that they don't know football.

All great points that get ignored.

Nope. No how, no way. Troy was a winner. Dak has never won a big game in the playoffs. He’s a deer in the headlights for a big game.

I can’t say who better but i think Dak and Romo have similar success if they had Aikmans teams.
Maybe, maybe not. Troy brought more than just arm talent to the team, his work ethic and the way he was a field general even in practice. He demanded perfection and discipline. I don’t see those championship genes in either Romo or Dak. Maybe they are more athletic than Troy but that’s where it ends
