Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

The QB position today is vastly different from what it was when Troy played. Back in the days you could tee off on them, while today they are natural treasures. Oddly though, a bunch of them still get hurt regularly
That hit that ended Troy's Carrier. If that happened today, it would be a major controversy.

Isn't a speakeasy a 1920s gin joint that served hooch during the prohibition period?

Ironically, this is what Aikman made the Bills secondary look like in Super Bowl 27.

Look at the teams he played against. That Buffalo team they smoked in the SB was full of HOF players as was the 49rs and Greenbay. The NFC East was also much stronger than at any time during Daks career. You could also play defense in that era. It's probable that Dak might have only cracked the starting lineup on maybe a handful if teams.

I can understand the argument for Meredith and the special place he holds in franchise history as the Cowboys first QB, but for me I would place him 6th. Lower career winning percentage than the others in front of him and the good part of his career came in his final 4 seasons. Craig Morton started what 4 seasons of games for Dallas? Good winning percentage, but hard to place him above the other guys that contributed more longer.
The Cowboys first great QB...
Eddie LeBaron was the Cowboys first starting QB.

I disagree. On their teams, both Romo and Dak did NOT elevate their games come playoff time. Aikman consistently played better in the playoffs than in the regular season with his teams. His team didn't change, but he elevated himself.
Yea, but Troy's defenses didn't implode almost consistently in the playoffs as Romo's or Dak's did either.

In their careers so far Dak has had a playoff team to work with five times and he is gone nowhere with it 3 12 win teams and nothing to show for it.

Troy aikman had I believe 8 playoff teams to work with one of them being an 8 and 8 team that I'm not really counting.

Troy made use of the good teams that he had not just getting to the Super bowl but being good enough in the big moments to win it and also an NFC championship game.
That is a tremendous gauntlet of playoffs to be successful in.

Yes for sure Troy had good teams to make the playoffs
But Dak had good teams too.

One guy turned into Superman in the playoffs the other guy was Casper the friendly Ghost.

Troy was able to elevate his team in big moments.
Dak needed a team that could elevate him.

That was the difference when everyone was good in the playoffs the stat collecting and garbage time was over one player Rose to the task was relentless and conquered it.

The other showed that the NFL playoffs were just too big of a stage and did not have the skill to compete at that level.

Ok. I don’t know what to tell you guys. Feel how you want. I personally think they had talent.
That last superbowl the Cowboys played they didn't have nearly the same talent level that they had before. People back then said it was the Triplets responsible for that season. People forget that the 90's cowboys people used to talk about how the talent got raided by other teams very quickly.

sam darnold has ring He must be better than Dan Marino with no rings is that is that we're gonna do with the ring chasing again and not take into account who had the better teams and the better coaching Staffs Are we really gonna do that i'm not gonna even answer this question i'm gonna let other people do it but if you think Trent Dilfer Brad Johnson and Jim Mcmahon and some other Quarterbacks are better than Prescott just because they have rings you haven't been watching you don't watch sports do you? Why does the Hall of Fame not require rings how is he quarterback like Warren Moon who didn't really do anything had a losing record in the playoffs no rings make the Hall of Fame and you think that ring chasing is the answer to this question is how many rings that each others have well I'll tell you that Emmett Smith the offensive line the defense the coaching staff all aided that endeavor those three rings belong to the team that's it that's all I'm gonna tell you is why you're really really wrong when you start ring debates.

That's not how it works that 'd be like Barry Sanders is worse than I can name about 10 running backs that have rings Some of them went and got ring on ring chasing teams I don't know didn't Kareem Hunt get a ring with Kansas City I mean we could do this all day long does that make him better than Barry Sanders because he has a ring how about Matthew Stafford led the league in interceptions after he went and jumped on a teams back that was already ready they've already been to Super Bowls and then he threw two interceptions in the Super Bowl and somehow you think that because he has a ring now he's better than he was with the Detroit Lions because I'd say he wasn't he's the same player..

Please don't come at me with garbage i'm right if we want to do this with quarterbacks we need to do it with other players I mean you trying to tell me there's a bunch of left tackles better than Tyron Smith only because they have a ring, hmmmm..
Shew a lot of rambling. The three rings are the main reason that Troy is better than Dak But besides that fact Troy was 11-5 in the playoffs , he knew had to read defenses better, better leader, and in the biggest games he never choked.
Most of those quarterbacks you mentioned didn’t have to do much other than not screwup to get a ring. In big games Dak falls apart. That’s all I can tell you.

Are you seriously comparing Troy’s all time great teams to anything the cowboys have had the last 30 years? Troy is better for sure but your argument is completely insane. You don’t have to spew complete BS to prove it.

Troy is not better because of the three rings. He’s better because he’s just better. Period. I doubt you think Troy is better than Dan Marino. And if you do because of the rings, then that is plain foolish.

Dan Marino 8-10 in the playoffs. I’ll take Troy. Foolish one

The 90s Cowboys super bowl teams were super stacked. This is a well known fact. The backups on D could've started on other teams. Remember Jimmie Jones? Dude was making plays like crazy in the playoffs. Why? Because he played in relief, and had fresh legs. And was talented.
