Dak is not a smart player

He's physically gifted. He's tough. He leaves it all out on the field. He doesn't let bad plays get him down. He says the right things and represents the team well, and his teammates seem to like him. That's all great.

He's also a better quarterback than most.

But if this season has proven one thing, it is this: Dak Prescott is not a smart player.

How can anyone even argue otherwise?

Over and over again, Dak makes the same mistakes. He makes terrible throws to the other team in the worst spots. He throws to receivers who are double and triple covered.

Each time Dak throws a crippling interception, he gets up at the podium after the game and says the same thing: Can't happen. Won't happen. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.

And then he does it again. And again. And again.

What else can you call a player who doesn't learn?

In tonight's game, Dak threw a terrible ball that would have been yet another easy pick-6, if not for Fuller falling down and dropping it. So what does he do ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY? He throws an even worse ball TO THE SAME SPOT, AND TO THE SAME DEFENDER. Pick 6.

The announcers were tripping over themselves not to call him stupid. Because it was stupid.

Did he learn from it? No. He kept throwing to receivers with two or three Washington players draped all over them.

Oh, sure, we'll win more than we lose with Dak. We'll even put up 30 and 40 points sometimes and look great. But it's an illusion. We won't win games THAT MATTER unless someone can figure out how to fix a quarterback who makes bad decisions this often.

First ball wasn't a "terrible decision".

It was the WR changing what he was showing the QB right when it was thrown.

Crazy to think we really liked the change of pace with Dak and his safe keeping of the ball compared to gunslingin Romo and now its worse than Romo. Even if say half arent his faults, what the flip are they doin at practice to get their chemistry together?

Dak was the worst I have ever seen him today. Not a good time to play that poorly going into the playoffs next week.

But the whole team lacked focus. dropping punt snaps? Dropping punts? Dropping passes? Missing blocks, not running full speed? Missing extra point? So much was off today. Dak was the worst of it, but he was not the only one who played crappy out there.

That’s because gun slinging Romo was a myth just like choker Romo, all media driven anti-Cowboys concoctions that had no basis in reality.

Dak doing less and being super careful with the ball his rookie year never translated to Romo not being careful with it.

Wow… I did not realize it was that bad. This guy named Sam Howell threw half the amount of passes that Dak did…but for more yards

How does that happen?

I suck at expressing myself, i loved Romo and always thought he was treated harshly. Was just comparing Daks Int % to Romos and how now its just flipped over.

Post of the night.

This team needs a smarter quarterback.

I wasn’t criticizing you. I was just pointing out that Romo’s history was muddied by those in the media who had an agenda to see a lack of success for the team. The objective stats never fit the narrative.

Weird how the title to this OP made me think of Rodgers past comments on McCarthy.

The blind leading the blind scenario.

Failure is pretty much inevitable.
