Dak is not a smart player

He's physically gifted. He's tough. He leaves it all out on the field. He doesn't let bad plays get him down. He says the right things and represents the team well, and his teammates seem to like him. That's all great.

He's also a better quarterback than most.

But if this season has proven one thing, it is this: Dak Prescott is not a smart player.

How can anyone even argue otherwise?

Over and over again, Dak makes the same mistakes. He makes terrible throws to the other team in the worst spots. He throws to receivers who are double and triple covered.

Each time Dak throws a crippling interception, he gets up at the podium after the game and says the same thing: Can't happen. Won't happen. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.

And then he does it again. And again. And again.

What else can you call a player who doesn't learn?

In tonight's game, Dak threw a terrible ball that would have been yet another easy pick-6, if not for Fuller falling down and dropping it. So what does he do ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY? He throws an even worse ball TO THE SAME SPOT, AND TO THE SAME DEFENDER. Pick 6.

The announcers were tripping over themselves not to call him stupid. Because it was stupid.

Did he learn from it? No. He kept throwing to receivers with two or three Washington players draped all over them.

Oh, sure, we'll win more than we lose with Dak. We'll even put up 30 and 40 points sometimes and look great. But it's an illusion. We won't win games THAT MATTER unless someone can figure out how to fix a quarterback who makes bad decisions this often.

Dak is a mostly 5th round QB who is an over achiever with the ability to take his team far IF, the Oline is good, and he has receivers with separation. He's not a tight window thrower and a QB who processes things quickly like Mahomes etc. So why make him that? If he's going to be your QB, you need to have the brains to give him plays that compliment him.

You can't have a weak offensive line, which we do, because he's not the best scrambler in the world. You can't give him average speed receivers because he's not overly efficient in throwing in tight windows, and you need a better offensive system if you're going to not only pay Dak but keep him. If you're not going to do those things, let him walk, who cares how much you paid for him.

That's a problem
With him taking up so much cap how do you afford to surround him with all stars?

Dak went 9-3 to end the season, with two losses coming in OT and the other in a game where the entire team seemed checked out.

Get back to me after the playoffs. If Dak plays like he did tonight in any playoff game, I'll be concerned. Until then, I'm not.

Those smarts are what separates the great/generational QBs from just the good QBs of the time like Dak. He just doesn't have it...nothing wrong with it, that's just who he is. Lots of other similar starting QBs have had long careers but were limited by this. It will take an all-time great defense like the 2000 Ravens for Dak to ever be a Super Bowl champion.

Sadly the Boys don't invest In The Dominant DT position so we will never have that

What concerns me most about Dak more then everything are his inaccuracies and his vision..He can't hit the broad side of a barn .There were recievers open and he throws the ball at the dirt, or throws a satellite 5 miles over the recievers head.This is year 7 man and its obvious to us but not to this dumb *** owner snd coaching staff that its time to draft a QB..

This is a fair assessment but I’d also add that physically gifted should be altered to not include throw accuracy. Dak is an anomaly with accuracy. If Madden really did his stats right, his throw accuracy stat would literally be a random number on every play. One play he’s a 95, next play he’s a 27. It’s just a random value that has no basis even when distance is factored. Even his check downs can sail or give in the dirt 5 years in front. He is truly an enigma

So sick of Dak being compared to Romo. Dak is not even half as good as Romo. Only reason they get discussed as comparable is because Romo had to suffer through years of unwarranted fan hate.. first half of Romo's career was ruined behind a woeful Oline (like really woeful).. then the second half was ruined by some poor HC by garrett. Then his body started to fail right when the squad was there for him. Then 2016 happened.

Romo has shown.. and still shows in the booth.. that he is the opposite of Dak.. a smart operator that could read a defence and absolutely understood the game of football. Dak is just another overrated QB that is not worth the hype. His best year STILL is his rookie year.. FFS.. imagine if Teebow was still a thing because remember he had that good year once.. Name one career that was WORSE because of Romo.. name one dude that played better after leaving Romo? Romo was a HOF calibre QB.. Dak is a bus driving hack who was in the right place at the right time. I will say it to the day I die.. If Dak lands on ANY other team.. we would never have even heard his name. He would have washed out years ago.. another fourth round speculative pick that bounced around as a back up before heading off to do other things.
