Dak is not awful, let's really look at things closely!

I love how the Homers here act like Pavlov's dog when Dak is mentioned...
Just the homers? It works the other way just as well.

Otherwise I am staying neural on this thread. Just now reading through all the posts.
I have no thoughts or opinions otherwise so far.

Things to consider:

1. He is not aweful. There is a myriad of other QBs who we can call aweful. Could you imagine if the starting QB we had for the last 10 years was Cooper Rush? I could just see the backlash form the fans as opposing teams and defences dissected Cooper's physical limitations.

2. He is a top NFL QB. This is where fandom has to decide what is the parameters for defining a top NFL QB. Are there metrics we want to focus on as the definition? We see constant debate here bouncing the tennis ball back and forth on why Dak is great or trash, and there are stats on both sides. We just need to decide once and for all what are the elements that makes a top NFL QB, and what are the elements that move them to greatness.

3. The fact is irrefutable. Dak Prescott is being paid as if he is the top one or two QBs in the league. We can bandy around the discussion on whether it's total or guaranteed salary, but it's not a discussion on whether he is in the very top tiers of wages. Now we have to decide on what is the expectation for paying someone that wage, and was this the correct financial decision based on past performance.

In the end, the fact that there is a debate, not just Cowboys fandom wide, but also league wide, suggests that there is a misalignment on salary vs performance.

Dak has very little leash left to end the debate. If it doesn't happen in the next two years, whatever is the expectations for his salary, he is going to end up being a significant millstone around the history of the Cowboys and the Jerry Jones and mgmt team legacy.

God help the next QB of the Dallas Cowboys if Dak doesn't meet expectations.

Dak certainly isnt awful. The issue with Dak is simply that he is closer to middle of the pack than he is elite, but Jerry paid him as a top tier guy. It's also realistic to think he has exited his physical prime and is in regression at age 32 and only having one complete season under his belt the last 5 years.
Jerry paid him the market rate... I don't have a problem with Jerry paying someone he market rate as long as that someone is our future... Dak isn't our future. As I mentioned in another post, he's a bus driver backup at best... Jerry didn't have to sign Dak. Yeah, maybe we would have been screwed by not signing him but Jerry got us in this mess to begin with. My feeling was pay Dak whatever needed to get out of that contract, take our lumps for a year while finding Dak's replacement. We had the opportunity to do just that by having Try Lance and Cooper Rush to get us through this last year while finding Dak's replacement. Instead, Jerry renews Dak's contract making us have to wait that much longer...

I do believe that Dak was overpaid. but that is not what I was referring to.

You tried to compare Jones' contract to Prescott's contract as if they were an equivalent comparison. You are trying to sell us that it cost the same to get Jones as it did to get Prescott. That is just not true because it ignores the 20-25 percent increase in salary at the top of the QB market in the two years between each contract. Jones got approximately 80% of what the top tier were getting in 2023 while Prescott got 100% of what the top tier were getting in 2021.
I didn’t compare anything I said Jones and Dak got the same deal. By the time Jones signed that deal there were 9 other guys getting 40 million AAV.

Sure if Dak would’ve signed after Jones he would’ve got more. But he didn’t. He signed in 2021…

He's awful in the playoffs, and he's awful against good teams. He was drafted in the 4th round, and I think he's exceeded expectations at times, but he's also played like a 4th round QB often. Saying he's awful means that he's terrible all the time, he's not terrible all the time. I'm not hyping him up, but we have to be real with ourselves. I think there could have been other Qb's that have come here and given us more, but why hang our hats on that???

He's our QB, he's not going anywhere, he has a no trade clause (that can be waived if HE chooses to waive it), hopefully he can be the QB we're paying him to be with the big injury he's coming back from! Please give your thoughts!
He is not awful.
He is just not worth his massive contract.
Thanks Jerry, thanks a lot !

He is awful because he overpaid therefore limits for acquisition of other position to help him win more games. We're tired

Why on earth you continuously put this kind of tape out on yourself is fascinating.

Go back and look at post #55. It contains your original comparison and the quote you were responding to with that comparison.

If after refreshing your memory you still want to stick to your assertion that your comparison has any validity whatsoever we'll be left to decide from two possibilities.

Either you're just not very smart, or you're simply trying to get me to say "rabbit hole".

My money is on the latter, but of course I can't be sure.

It’s whatever you want it to be lol. You have to know by now I don’t care what you or your crew of flunkies think about when it comes to your opinion of me or anything football related. You have to be smart enough to know that.

Big deal, so he can beat BOTTOMFEEDER teams, that doesn't make him average, that just says he's a step ahead of the bottom feeders. Prescot is bad, he's overpaid, over hyped and is less than mediocre as an NFL QB.

A not so veiled shot at Dak. He is absolutely, 100% not awful. There is a massive difference between being an awful QB and your awful owner giving you an awful contract that you haven't lived up to...twice. The only ones who say Dak is awful are Eagles fans, have an agenda against him or are being overly dramatic for a variety of reasons. Which are you?

He has been weighed, measured, and found to be lacking.
Next man up.
He was rated in the 20s when he went down, the bottom 1/3 of the league is awful in my book.

Don't fall for TMC's crap, it's an everyday thing, boredom, nothing else to do.

For the record, this is the first post that strayed completely away from the topic and was solely directed at the poster and not the post.

Not much guessing need be done as to why you've resorted to this.
