Dak is waiting on WRs to get 5 yards open to throw the ball

No this just isn’t true and if you just took 2 minutes out of your day to actually research your claim you could find that out on your own. According to nextgen stats, Dak is the second most aggressive passer in the league, meaning he throws into tight coverage more than everyone in the league besides Jimmy G. Now if that’s because our receivers get the least separation in the league is another point entirely but he’s definitely not only throwing the ball when they’re 5 yards open which you’re claiming.

:hammer::hammer::hammer:

Jerry bet on the wrong horse QB and wasted a 1st Rd on a damaged WR,this decision is going to be more costly than the Roy williams trade or the morris claibrone pick and will set us back multiple years.

If they aren't open and it's an INT, Dak's fault

If they are a little open and he throws it to them and the WR tips the ball leading to an INT, Dak's fault

If he doesn't throw it to them and looks for the open guy who can secure the ball without leading to an INT, Dak's fault

If we win, team effort

If we lose, Dak's fault

I'm at this point resigned to accept that they should trade Dak and give the ball to Rush, in a week people will be calling for White to start, in another week people will demand that we get a new QB or trade for one or draft one. Next season, rinse and repeat.

Nice use of selective stats. 2 can play at that game. Dak is also 3rd in the league in time to throw the ball. But , the fact remains that even on nextgen when all the fancy stats are added up, Dak is a bottom 15 QB.

I went over a bunch of games yesterday because i was bored and its pretty clear Dak is not pulling the trigger on passes he should. Its the NFL, rarely are WRs ever to be 5+ yards open.

I dont know why its in his head to only pass to people wide open but im 100% positive thats his problem

No video, it didn't happen.

And how does that dispute the fact that he makes tight window throws? What kind of defense is that lmao

This^^^^^ When the ball comes late, the defender is on the receiver.
You’re right. Cowboys are the only team in the league where that happens, not any of the 31 other teams. You’re right.

Unless the DB falls down Dak will tuck and run .......Worst QB Pocket presence in the NFL...dude is scared and his eyes scream PANIC...!!!!!

Nah, Dak is waiting for you to go get him some gatorade, carry his shoulder pads and rub his back!

No he isn’t. This is just another avenue to hate on Dak. How many does this make in the last year? Thousands.

The stat takes into consideration the separation at the time of the catch. Therefore, it's possible (my eyes say likely) that by the time he throws the ball, the defender is closing in on it.

His progression and recognition is too slow, plus he doesn't step up in the pocket, plus he panics and looks to go down under ghost defenders a lot now.

I have serious doubts about these Next Gen Stats.
It's a method of data collection that's in its infancy. There's plenty of raw output, but nobody really knows how to apply the information.

Targeted air yards (the average depth of a player's targets)
Among receivers (WR or TE) ranked in the top 24 in targeted air yards...
Only 1 ranks in the top 24 in average separation.
Eleven rank in the bottom 24 in average separation.

Among receivers (WR or TE) ranked in the bottom 24 in targeted air yards...
None ranks in the bottom 24 in average separation.
Eleven rank in the top 24 in average separation.

That means the deeper the targeted route, the less the separation -- all else (offensive and defensive talent/scheme) being equal. So one of the first tweaks they'll have to make (assuming they even care) is to factor depth of target into average separation.

It is a stat that is not conclusive of anything. Is it a tight window b/c he's perceiving a WR open who is not? Is the WR initially wide open but by the time Dak sees it its a tight window? You are throwing stats around and not thinking critically about what situations may influence that stat.

Been like that his whole career.. Hope cooper does well here because he can get open.. But I really dont think he's gonna even have better number's than dez did. .I really hope im wrong though..

This is a joke right? Aggressive passer, people can make stats say anything that they want. I guess you don't watch the games you just look at the stats afterwards.

Running Zeke up the middle on EVERY 1st down with a stacked box is the DUMBEST move ever. We should run RPO on 1st down and insist that Dak keeps the ball..i bet he will learn to throw against a stacked box.
