You just proved that Dak and Wilson are extremely similar.

Relatively the same in ratings, won-loss, running, durability.....

Then you make this totally unsubstantiated opinion that Dak is incapable of getting better.

You very conveniently fail to mention that Wilson has the benefit of the #1 ranked defense in points allowed all three of those years in a row. Also #1 in yardage allowed in two of those seasons. Time and again that defense gave him premium field position.

Every quarterback has a different set of skills. They are all means to an end and that end is winning
In that respect, Dak has the most successful start in Cowboy history.

I think his unsubstantiated claims were sarcasm mirroring some of the talk we see in here. I might be wrong though.

Great post. I also like the comparison to Steve McNair. Strong and mobile with good leadership ability.

I agree, that’s who he’s always reminded me of because of the reasons you listed.
I think McNair was better passer but the big bodied, great leadership, will to win....

I don’t think many defenders who tackled other running QBs like Mark Brunnel, Steve Young, or Russell Wilson ever said tackling them was like tackling a linebacker or big running back but tackling McNair or Dak has to be like that. I think at one point McNair was as big as some of his OL. I remember seeing some DEs get a great jump and hit McNair square and just bounce off. Was futile to blitz him with DBs haha. Daks not as big as him but he is big bodied and can push a pile.

This seems to be the go to comparison for media pundits for whatever reason when talking down to Dak. I assume it’s bevause both are athletic, scrambling black QBs initially perceived as a product of good teams. The inevitable conclusion of the comparison is that it turns out Wilson was much better than everyone thought (as he is now universally considered elite) but Dak is not at that level and doesn’t have the potential to. Indeed, I wager less than 10% of this board believes Dak can ever be what Russell Wilson currently is.

Well, let’s a take a look. A comparison of each player’s first 45 starts.

Dak:
30-15 W/L record
10,122 yards
225 YPG
66.1 completion %
7.5 YPA
11.2 YPC
62 passing TDs
24 INTs
942 rushing yards
17 rushing TDs
25 fumbles
95.8 QBR

Russ:
33-12 W/L record
9,375 yards
208 YPG
63.4 completion %
7.8 YPA
12.5 YPC
66 passing TDs
24 INTs
1,589 rushing yards
11 rushing TDs
31 fumbles
97.4 QBR

Pretty similar overall. Now I know what you’ll say, “But Russ got better every year”. Well, except he didn’t. His third year (2014) was arguably the WORST year of his career, where he had 14 fumbles, was sacked 45 times, had his lowest QB rating to that point and only had a total of 26 TDs running and passing.

Just food for thought
Good stuff. My question is how can Russell Wilson have a higher QBR than Dak when Dak has overall better stats except for 600 lesser rushing yards?

I like to compare dak to Tebow.

Dak wins just like Tebow brohamsticles

Tebow completed 48% of his passes. He averaged 123 passing yards per game in his best season. His TD/INT ratio was 17/9. His won-loss record was 8-6.

Dak's career, by comparison: 66% of his passes, averages 225 ypg, 62/24 TD/INT ratio. His won-loss record is 30-15.

Yeah, they're exactly the same.

That's a great point, Dak has his faults but this is one of those things posters here don't give him enough credit for. You very rately see him sacked by one guy, when he goes down its usually a jailbreak with multiple guys hitting him. There are plenty of plays where a DE swats at him and he doesn't move.

Russell has had one of the worst OLs in the league. Dak stepped into a team that had the best OL in the league.

Hard to leave that fact out.

Absolutely true, but this year Dak is still winning with a OL that gives up more sacks than anyone. The Saints game is Example A.

A lot of the sacks are on him - just as they are Wilson.

And Dak's not winning games, the defense is.
