Now, I don't buy for a minute that we've got an offense predicated on having a QB ignore open receivers, but even if I did, we'd have won last week if we didn't drop the two TDs, or maybe if we'd gotten out of bounds with the plays we did have called. That's with the offense we've got. We don't have an aggressiveness problem, and we don't have a scheme problem. We have execution problems.

Even though I know the scheme is junk.. Let's just say it is execution... Every team that's ever lost is because they didn't execute properly.. Eventually if you don't execute you have to be shown the door.

We're in agreement there, then.

I don't know how we can look at the two dropped TD passes and the failure to get out of bounds, on top of the two drive-killing holding penalties and not conclude that the team was in perfect position to win again this week and just did not make the plays that needed to get made. It's the NFL. There just aren't that many opportunities to win games available. If you don't take them, you lose. No matter what scheme you're running.

Finally!!! ;)

Don't get me wrong.. We could've won had we executed the game perfectly.. But it's hard to be perfect in this league and I don't believe what we do is the most optimal way to win with consistency in this league.

It's a 50-50 brand of football and our record shows it.

Haha, he may be a rookie but his QB Speak is at veteran level.

He's kind of a badass. I'm going to listen to see what the tone was on these.

I know it's early, but this guy completely looks like the real deal.

Fair enough, we'll agree to disagree. I hate Weeden. LOL. There would be times when I saw him pretending to look down the field, and pretending to go through progressions (looking down the field one way and quickly turning his head the other way). In reality, it was all pretending -- he wasn't really looking down the field, he wasn't really going through progressions. He was moving his head back and forth, knowing full well he was going to dump it down to someone in the flat. The problem is, the defense we were playing against always knew it too.

For what it's worth, yes, Dak did some checking down too, but I never got the hopeless feeling I did when watching Weeden. I see Dak back there and I see a QB with courage, he is NOT afraid to go down the field, he is not fearing the pass rush.
I think I'm in love.
....again

What I think people may fail to realize, or maybe give enough credit to, is this process right here. If you want to know if Dak is going to be a good starting QB in the NFL for us, this process is going to tell us. He's going to lose games and the Dallas Press is going to be all over him. The Fan Base is going to be unruly and basically, life is going to suck outside of your home or the practice facilities. When we get to that point fully, and if Dak can handle it, then you know you will have a good QB. It's not going to be unbelieveable play in these early games etc.

As long as he doesn't act like Ryan Leaf we're straight

It's our style of play. Coaching scared.

yeah, but remember when Garrett shocked the world against Washington in the last game of 2014 when he called that surprise onside kick?

That was ballsy!!

Like the screen shot showed on Beas being open with 40 seconds to go, defenses will scheme to take away the short routes, given our history when playing backup qbs. If Dak's first read on that play had been the deep ball, or perhaps on other plays as well, we very well might have won. We say we're not holding him back, but we simply have to threaten downfield more often. We were getting excellent pass protection - no reason to hold back. Open up the offense and esp. if you're throwing to Dez, give the WR at least a chance to make a play. This conservative play-calling is killing us. C'mon man...
If you watch the video of that play, the reason Dak didn't see Beasly was because Free got whipped like fresh butter at IHOP and his guy flushed Dak out to the right side.

If Free was not getting tossed around like a rag doll every single play then Dak probably would have seen Beasly running wide open
