Both are worth long term deals, if the teams are aware of what they have. IMO (projecting a few years)
Jimmy G top 10-15
Dak top 5-10

would you not pay a top 5 QB the second you could? Dallas letting Dak go into his lame duck season (on his rookie deal!) is borderline criminal. And now they’re giving him the Cousins treatment. You’re only worth what someone is willing to pay

I don't know. Depends on how deep the top runs. I mean, if you had a top 5 QB but the top of the Class only included 3, then that changes things right? I guess I'll be better able to answer a question like that when we actually have a top 5 QB.

It’s only 50% about what Dak does for you. The other 50% is about the likeliness of getting anything close to Dak if he walks. Minnesota paid Cousins because the alternatives were terrible. Look at Washington since not paying Cousins. Look at Miami after letting go of Tannehill.

I understand always wanting to shoot for the stars, but Dallas is built for right now. Paying Zeke was a huge mistake if you reset at the QB position and it doesn’t work out. You paid him because you assumed he’d be with Dak for 5 more years. You traded a 1 for Amari because you assumed he’d be with Dak. You never invested in the backup because of Dak. If he isn’t the future of the Dallas Cowboys, then it was all a ruse.

He has to be getting whatever he asks for, especially after the Zeke holdout precedent of Jerry caving. What is the point of any of this if you just franchise Dak and plan for a future without him? He may not be top 5, but there aren’t 15 men on Earth who can do what he can. With 32 teams, is bickering over a couple million a year really worth risking the future of America’s team?

First of all, Dak can't "Walk". Secondly, there are options out there and they aren't all that far from what we've seen with Dak at QB. So if you are going to have to pay for 8-8, you might as well pay less. That's a very real point of view.

He doesn't have to get whatever he asks for. This entire, "especially after Zeke" is a bunch of nonsense that mediots are throwing around.

Let me say this. I never liked the Zeke thing and I'm on record of that. However, the point can be made that Zeke got paid because he was arguably, the top RB in the league. You can't make that argument for Dak. Also, while Zeke did hold out and ask for stupid money, if you actually look at his contract its really a decent one for the team. What Dak is asking for is not a good thing for the team IMO.
