To be on the safe side I’d rest him till either the NFC Championship game or SB…..can never be too careful with these things
I’d Rush wins tonight and next week, no way they bench him

Recovery time from this sort of surgery is 6-8 weeks. Jerry spew said 4. And then you have to consider that he has to get used to throwing again, which may mean some retraining of his hand.

Holy bananas, STOP listening to Jerry.
Can't imagine anyone being able to be an effective QB even after 8 weeks.

Funny how one would claim to be able to clearly see what is going on here with the reasoning/actions of the FO. "Can't imagine the mental gymnastics it would take to NOT see it".

Almost bragging they have the ability to think and see things the way JJ and #1 son do. Kinda scary when you think about it.

He comes back and loses, now what?

He comes back and because that pass rush is more effective from the Eagles than the Lions, aggravates that hand, now what?

This isn't just about the QB; it is also about the owner marketing the QB because he needs him to be a star.

Not official

Very rarely do players themselves leak breaking news to NFL insiders; the two sources of information they have are player agents and team executives.

Agents mostly leak things that affect their longterm agency health: how much money they got for their client in a new contract, if a player has been released by their current team, or if they’ve been awarded the starting spot after being only a backup previously. Catastrophic injuries could be included in this category, but it’s considered bad form by some teams to get this info from anyone but team doctors. In-the-moment roster decisions based on lingering injuries are not things agents spend a lot of time fretting over, so people who watch these shows take credence in the insider reports because it’s the team themselves who gave Rap Sheet this info.

So no, it’s not on the Cowboys’ website front page , but it might as well be

Even more than that, this is about Dak's career and whether it goes downhill from here. I see a man turning 30 next season who has now had injuries 3 seasons in a row. Maybe some of this stems from the Cowboys overprotecting him and not playing in the preseason. But I also think Dak was anointed way too early in his career and has never had to face any competition of his starting job.

To be clear, even though Rush has so far earned the right to compete for the starting job, Dak is being paid a monster contract and the Cowboys need to find out if he can still play at a high level.

That roster spot means nothing. Whoever was brought up would have been inactive anyway. Then they would need to be released and Dak activated. Then Dak would only then be able to practice.
By not putting him on IR, he could be at practice slowly rehabbing.
Not sure why fans keep on bringing this up.

Probably because some would have liked not to waste a 5th round rookie and seen what if anything he could have done.
