Yes, that's why people say things like "I promise" or "I vow" or "I swear".

Display hope, but stop promising things that are unattainable or are dependent upon variables that are out of your control and focus only on yourself. It might be pedantic or personal for me since I've had people promise things and fail and live up to them.

Say I sucked, I've got to get back to the drawing board and play better otherwise we aren't going to win a divisional playoff game. Dak's been far too inconsistent to promise things like this. Be hopeful but realistic. No one likes hearing constant empty promises.
