Dak on how much the offense will change with McCarthy: “Mike told me 20-30% change."

Warner also repeatedly says he doesn't understand what the OC is trying to do when he breaks down our offense. He also points out some of the route combos we run are garbage and there are better ways to run them.
So what do you think is more likely Moore and McCarthy simply do not know what they are doing or are they trying to keep things at a level that Dak can maintain? I tend to believe it is more on Daks limitations than it is the intelligence of Moore and McCarthy.

"fat mike told me I was too dumb to learn a new playbook and that Moore has simplified it to running out and coming back to be because I could not lead the receivers in stride or didn't see them." dak
Sadly I believe this is closer to fact than it is fiction. 2016 how I miss thee.

Three curls / four curls is actually a good playcall on first down because it gets you ahead of the chains and sets up short 2nd downs. It's also an extremely effective playcall on, say, 1st and 20 after a penalty, because it pretty much guarantees you get roughly half your penalty yardage back and can salvage the drive. McCarthy did that a TON in the Rodgers era.

It's a bad playcall on third down because other teams know it's coming and they will guard the sticks like a hawk, so the windows are very tight to throw if they are there at all.
I would agree for the most part but not in this teams case. Every defense in the NFL knew we would be running 3 curls and were ready to defend it...yet Kellen the Boy Wonder called it anyways. Im glad those days are (hopefully) over.

It happened on 3rd down, genius.
Run up the middle with Zeke on first down is a good way to get behind the chains.

Which I like.

Mike throws the ball. Schottenheimer emphasizes running the ball and protecting the QB.
McC threw the ball because he had Favre and Rodgers but I did not think he was pass happy but those are two individuals he had to keep happy. Just look how they reacted with QB's picked in the 1st round. Real prima donnas.

If it's Dak's limitations, why weren't all his backups (Rush, Dalton, Dinucci, Gilbert) able to do as well or better than Dak under KM when Dak went down? After all, all you Dak bashers said his backups were better. Dak has had success without KM as the OC (2016 and 2018) and he has never had the INT issues before KM.

Another scapegoat excuse?

Cowboys better invest in some of those old bullseye machines from the old skill challengers and drop them off at Daks home so he can practice hitting things on crossing routes. Unill the wheels fall off

Fair enough. I feel like the reason no one likes the route trees is because they are basic. Say what you want about Warner but the guy is a true jedi master at the QB position and when he breaks down the film he is always saying stuff like when we did this it was an option, when we did this the WR had a choice. I am to the point where I believe that Dak is never going to be that guy that picks a team apart because he knows what they are doing and takes advantage. It is why he was so effective and efficient as a rookie. IMHO no change to the offense is going to make that much of a difference. Dak is pretty much at his ceiling. It isn't a terrible ceiling but it doesn't look like it is championship caliber either.
My sentiments exactly...

Where did Dallas win 13 games with Dak? Dak was out for 5 games and Dallas went 4-1 during that time; with Dak Dallas went 9-5 (including playoffs).
well, dak is so great I give him credit for all the wins. Heck, we should just give him a super bowl trophy and tell him to retire. He's that good.

Sounds like a marketing campaign for the new and improved Doritos.
yep, they have already started producing them.

Hopefully he learns to read a defensive before he's allowed to audible out of run plays like he's Brady.

Sorry if this is a repost.

Keep in mind McCarthy is likely to be minimizing the changes when he talks to Dak. "Hey, don't worry, we're not changing so much!"

20-30% change in the *playbook* probably means 60% or more changes to the plays *called*. They could hugely change the plays called simply by changing which ones they call in the existing playbook. Adding up to 30% new plays means they plan on changing the plays called a *lot*.
