So who will Tyler Smith be lining up against in his first start?

I believe that will be ten year veteran RDE William Gholston. There is a chance he might also go against this year's 33rd overall pick in the draft, Logan Hall. The 33rd pick is the 1st pick in the 2nd round. He'll also be making contact often with the ROLB, Pro Bowler Shaquil Barrett

Last season Hall and Gholston combined for 14.5 sacks and 33 QB hits as well as 16 tackles for a loss.

When a ten year veteran like Gholston goes up against a rookie in his very first NFL game it's like deflowering a virgin. He doesn't care how fast, strong, or quick Tyler is, he going to show him some things on the world's biggest stage that he has never seen before.

For his part, Tyler will act cool on the outside while on the inside he can't help feeling just a little overwhelmed. He's playing on a national TV time slot, Sunday Night Football. No doubt, he'll be nervous at first. This is just one of the reasons why the Cowboys must feature the running game heavily in the 1st half and perhaps beyond.

By the time the game is halfway through the 2nd quarter, Tyler will settle down and begin playing football the way he likes it.

Tyler Smith will rag doll William Gholston who offers no real pass rush threat. (His 4.,5 sacks were buoyed by having 2,.5 versus a tanking Carolina team) The challenge will be Barrett who Dallas will need to chip.
Could see Barrett get a sack or two if Smith is forced to handle him a lot.

Logan Hall should take over that job this late year from Gholston but he is as raw as Smith having mostly played DT in college and only starting 2 years in Non-P5.

The concern for Smith is processing. Can he handle stunts and blitzes. Will the OL be communicative out to him and help him as the OC and LG are also young and fighting for their lives.

But Tampa has bigger injury worries and is less likely than even us to be full go week 1.
Our defense feels much more like that Tampa had 2 years ago with speed and youth all over.
As neither team took pre-season as warm up, I expect both team to be a bit sloppy.
The Bucs have a promising young coach but it will be his first game in charge.

These guys are professional athletes in a league where the average is around 3-4 years.

He won’t be nervous or overwhelmed. It’s what he has worked his whole life to do.

He is living in a bubble and far away from reality, it will come soon enough I fear.
