Dak play from Eagles

The WR on the right was either very slow or jogging.
The QB needs to realize down and distance and if he has a primary read on the left with more options then he may not make the throw on the left...especially because based on what we can see throwing that ball to the right looks like the worst possible throw available.

See, now your changing the argument.

1. I already said this in posts a few back that after watching it again maybe he was his last progression and the reads were all to the left.

2. I also said I’m not even sure what the underneath WR is doing anymore because he kind of jogs his route after his cut. So he may have not even been a checkdown but a primary read with on a timing route and Dak was suppose d to look off the guy streaking off the left and hitting him underneath, but Dak threw too late and by that time the DB closed from way downfield.

3. You were saying that he was covered which is why he didn’t make the throw.

The point is is that Dak wasn't even scanning the field. He went with an obvious checkdown when you saw a defensive player already coming down to make the tackle.

My goodness, what is the problem here?

"50-50 ball" to Dez >>>> checkdown with a defender already coming up to make the freakin' play.

I guess a year and a half with me telling you guys he had trouble with all of this isn't enough. Maybe another season some of you will finally admit Dak is crap.

Self-explanatory at how bad Dak is at reading the field and reacting..

Third and 4 or 5.. single coverage on the right. Dak staring in one direction, the left and goes to the guy three yards from the first down marker while the DB has already made a break to the ball because of Dak’s eyes the whole time...
And Dak throws way late too..

Linehan’s fault...

Wrong.

The circled WR is covered and they had already tried going to Dez in that same situation down by the right sideline at least twice.

These route combinations are terrible.

The biggest issue is with that coverage the WR that caught the ball should have been the immediate read but Linehan/Garrett don't give Dak the option to change his first read on a pre-snap basis.

If he throws immediately after the snap then the WR has time to get the first bit instead he is looking at the other receiver on that side first.

Circling the player at the bottom is moronic.

In his defense.. Nobody looked open.

He would have to do the Romo drill and buy time to do something outside the scheme.

He might’ve had Dez 1 on 1.. I can’t tell.

Edit... nvm Dez was doubled too.

Seriously... Look how crap that play is haha.. My gosh. Witten has a defender under and over him because they know what we want to do. The safety is so far up. Make him pay for cheating!

Romo in the broadcast booth constantly says that if the defense shows this look they are going to get one-on-one to the outside here and you get the shot you want..

That was a perfect one on one oppurtunity..

Why Dak didn’t throw it, we don’t know but he clearly didn’t scan the field to the right. It’s said that Linehan last year had to “dumb down” the offense to primarily half the field, because Dak basically worked half the field in college..

Looking at it again, I’m having second thoughts:

1. Look at the route the underneath WR Dak throws to runs and how he hesitates. What is he doing? Did Dak throw late?

2. Is the WR on the left that runs the deep route the decoy for the underneath of vice versa?

3. The WR on the right that Dak should have seen doesn’t seem to run full speed so maybe he was the last progression.

I especially agree with point 3. The ball is still in the quarterback's hands and the receiver has come to a near stop in the route, it appears.

I don't know that I would point to this particular play as the best example of Dak not scanning the field.

That same pass play Dak sailed it over the head of TWilliams in the third quarter followed by him throwing a horrible pass over Beasley’s Head in the right side on a short route..

What’s laughable is Dak doesn’t even bother to scan the whole field and look right even once pre-snap..

Nothing Dak and the receivers could do on that play.

Dak was not looking at T-Will. The play was designed for Witten and he was looking at Witten. But Witten was doubled. T-Will ran the route half-hearted (really a lousy effort and Butler was covered over the top.

Another situation where the defense knows the play and has it easily covered. The only play that could have been made is throwing to Butler on a 50/50 ball.

Predictable play that is not designed with much spacing and doesn't stress the safety. Would have been nicer if Dez was in place for Butler and I would trust that 50/50 ball more and that may force the double to Dez instead of Witten.

No, they tried to get it to Dez twice early in the game on the right sideline.

The bomb to Williams had to be thrown where it was to avoid the help defender coming across the field.

No, that bomb was overthrown five feet above TWill’s Head..

He probably knew the safety was over the top so everything would happen on the left.

His only option was Williams or the other slot guy running a clear out.

Unless the WR on the right was running some kind of square in then he made the right choice and even the square in would take a lot of time.

That is a dumb example by Mosher. One of many.

Yup.

But what people are missing is that Dak was looking for Witten. He then threw it to Williams who put in a poor effort on the route although I don't think it would have mattered anyway. The only real play was to throw it to Butler who is questionable on those 50/50 balls. If we put Dez there instead that is more likely to draw a double and get Witten one-on-one. Now imagine if we had a real threat catching the ball for big plays at TE.

Yep

Heck, what if they just dragged a guy underneath to open up a window for Witten?

If they still Guard Witten then the drag could potentiallly get you the first.

You can see the safety deep around the 32 shifting more towards the center of the field,

The WR as on the right, not sure who he was.. like I said earlier, after looking at it again, it was more likely the prigression was left from the beginning.

That being said Dak still doesn’t bother to scan the field at all before he snaps it. His eyes are in one direction the whole time..
