Dak did a lot of good things, but this entire sequence was designed by Linehan to LOOK like an audible. It wasn't.

That was a play they put in special for the Giants.

It didn't look like an audible at all. He split out wide and it was designed motion.

If the safety didn't follow Zeke into the box, THEN Dak probably would've audibled (as he's done several times).

Correct, the other guy has it exactly backwards. The reason Dak was often in trouble in the 2 games vs. NYG last season is that he couldn't read the defense all that well and so he DIDN'T KNOW WHEN TO AUDIBLE out of 1 play into another or make route/blocking adjustments. So he often just ran the play the coaches called without making any adjustments.

He's not 'overthinking' anything here. He's learning to play NFL Starting QB Level Football.

Good post.

The Giants' defense is not one you can simply out-execute like 98% of NFL defenses. You have to out-execute and out-smart them.

He's not wrong on any of that, maybe save for the last statement on the Agholor catch. Wentz's deep ball accuracy isn't particularly good. He had 3-5 balls that could have easily been INTs by kind of throwing it up without thinking - his decision making needs real work. He is responsible for the fumble on the backward pass because the pass was terrible. That's 2 turnovers vs a bad defense. Wentz is getting tons of praise around here in Philly for his game, and I don't get it.

Someone posted that day - don't let the score or stat line confuse you: Wentz was not good in that game against a bad defense.

If Skins DBs can hold on to the ball through contact with the ground, they come down with at least 2 crippling INTs and at least 1 more in the end zone.

I suspect that will be a very educational experience. He'll be able to tell us exactly what Linehan is thinking on offense, as well as, what Marinelli is attempting to do on defense. I think the NFL missed a golden opportunity to drive up ratings even further on their best selling ticket in town; Romo should absolutely have been assigned more Cowboys games.
To do that Romo had to move over to FOX. Going to CBS limits Romo's exposure to Cowboys games.

But if he went to Fox, he'd have to be the #2 guy because Aikman has the #1 spot locked up. And he does most Cowboys games there.

So, in the end, there wasn't much Romo could do if he wanted to do Cowboys games.

When he waved him back to the huddle, that looked like a protection audible. Dak does that quite a bit. But this time, it was a designed decoy because that throw was predetermined. The offensive line blocked it like running play to open up that lane.

Thing of beauty. You can bet Denver is spending a lot of time on that this week.

We'll hit Denver with something else this week, is my guess. Lots of stuff bewteen the tackles disguised as passing -- take advantage of Von Miller's edge speed and use it against him.

I do think we're going to see Zeke much more involved in the passing game this year than just screens and check downs. He's an excellent receiver who can get down field.

They should run behind Martin and Collins right at Miller. Wear him down.

A combination. I think it was the play as designed, with Prescott expected to read the defense. If he would've motioned Zeke into the backfield and the safety didn't come into the box, Dak probably would've audibled to a run.
Yea it looked like some kind of check with me.

If that's true, then this is a fantastic job by Linehan, designing plays using motions to help Dak spot disguised coverages.
