looked rusty , out of synch personally. but got the job done. Tough D, no pre-season work, and in control majority of the game. Did love that dime he dropped to ceedee though.
Agreed. Wish McCarthy would make the 1st string Offense play some during Preseason. This way the Offense doesn't start the Regular Season so rusty or out of sync/timing at times.

At halftime, the Browns trailed by 17, had just one first down and were being outgained 216-54.

the haters are trying to pretend we weren't playing ball control and preserving the lead in the second half. It's so ridiculously disingenuous.
if it were a case of lack of counting stats that would be one thing to argue. he just did not look too sharp in the second half, conservative or otherwise. and that's fine.

If they were going ball control, they sure weren't doing it right. The run game is a problem for sure (and I blame a lot of it on that) but Dallas threw 63% of the time in the 2nd half (12 passes to 7 rushes). Dak went 6 for 12 for 28 yards. He had a good first half, he just didn't play that well in the 2nd half. He is not the only QB to have a bad half this weekend. It happens. I just don't get why people have to be labelled a hater for pointing that out (that is so ridiculously disingenuous IMO), doesn't diminish that he played well enough to get us out to a big lead and win the game.

The same is true the other way, by the way, its just as disingenuous to call people pointing out his good play as dakistans and the like as well.

Yes, that 2nd Half was nowhere near good enough. Pretty sure Coach McCarthy is currently getting the Offense to clean it up.

A statistical breakdown by half shows that Dak Prescott & Co. did next to nothing for the final 30 minutes of play.

It’s worth noting that KaVontae Turpin’s electrifying punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter, while furthering the Cowboys’ lead, automatically reduced the offense’s second-half opportunities in every one of these categories.

It’s pretty hilarious the agenda the Dak bashers have. Despite a solid performance on Sunday that led to a two score win on the road, you have fans complaining that he threw for only 179 yards and only had one TD pass. But when he throws for 380 yards with three TDs and we win by two or more scores they claim all he was doing was padding his stats against a bad defense.

Ball control doesn't mean you're going to run straight into the line over and over. We played conservative. He wasn't willing to risk an interception. He knew the score and played smart. When we needed points the qb helped us to get points. It's really that simple.

Would I say he was awesome, no. I'd say he played very well in the first half, for the first game of the season, against the leagues best defense, on the road. I wouldn't put a lot of weight into not scoring points when they weren't needed.

I'm more than capable of criticizing the qb, but it's flat out stupid to say he had a bad game. Same guys who use the quote garbage time stats are now pretending stats from this game are gospel. It's nonsense. Context matters.

Oh ok!

So all those narrative about Cap Hell is exactly what?
The Cowboys haven't been the same since the CAP caused the destruction of the 90's SB team. This FO doesn't seem to have a clue on how to get over the playoff hump.

It's was nearly a 50/50 split run/pass. We weren't pushing the ball. I guess my lying eyes told the truth. It's over now anyway. These guys continue to hate the qb after he's assured to be here for another 4 years minimum. At some point get on board and shut up. He's your qb, and this is your team. Doesn't mean you can't criticize, but lose the agenda already. It's tiresome.

Cowboys can do whatever they want. They just have to manipulate contracts. They choose not to do it. We’ve never not been able to sign a player we wanted.

McCarthy starting game planning the clock once Zimmer’s defense rendered Watson ineffective…….It was an ugly 2nd half

I don’t think you can stop it everyone looked rusty even with preseason. I think the only way to do it is if you play starters a half or three quarters.
