Agreed. Wish McCarthy would make the 1st string Offense play some during Preseason. This way the Offense doesn't start the Regular Season so rusty or out of sync/timing at times.
I don’t think you can stop it everyone looked rusty even with preseason. I think the only way to do it is if you play starters a half or three quarters.

...in the 1st Half against the Browns.

After a big Halftime lead, toned it down and managed the offense to a turnover-free easy 33 - 17 victory.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are that the team messed themselves up by getting overly cautious too early. In my opinion of course as they still managed a comfortable win.

But both sides of the ball looked to lose their rhythm due to changing up their playcalling.

Therein lies the decision between keeping your gas on the pedal or managing the clock....either way McCarthy was screwed so the Win is a mea cul pa :lmao:

Looking at the offenses touches i'm not saying they were good or bad but they didn't dominate the 1st half either.

QUARTER 1
1st possession 6 plays 9 yards punt- Terrible
2nd possession 10plays 70 yards TD! Terrific
3rd possession 9 plays 31 yards Punt- Terrible

QUARTER 2
1ST possession 4 plays only 2 yards- Pathetic
2nd possession 13 plays 74 yards TD! Terrific drive
3rd possession 5 plays 17 yards FG. They got 3 points out of a bad drive.
4th possession 4 plays 1 yard FG. This comes off an interception and the offense barely got 1 yard in 3 plays- Not good at all. But love the 3 points ty defense.
5th possession to end the half doesn't really count.

The offense gained less than 10 yards on 3 out of 7 drives and 2 of those drives were 2yards or less. Overall they did enough to win because the defense held strong. The offense had 2 good drives out of 7 so IMHO wont be saying they had a good/great 1st half. Things got worse from there except for Turpin making magic happen.

I agree to a point, i also think we cant fully judge it all based off one game.....we do know that they need to get better and they will as they get more time playing together this season...but we also need to know, how good is this Browns Defense. If it turns out that no team can score more than 10 on them in a half then all the sudden that looks pretty good..if they get scorched every game then that looks horrible.

Well, the most significant was the delay penalty before kicking a 66 yard FG. And I remember a second similar penalty after that.
I don’t know if that field goal was a clock management issue though they seemed to be adamant the clock never stopped.

What?
Ohhhhh....i see
Here its all Dak dak dak

But in the playoff butt kicking
The D, the team needs to carry him
Then its a team game
You claimed he was carried to a win on Sunday. That’s ridiculous! Our three backs combined for 70 yards rushing and despite being under pressure numerous times he played very solid. Stop complaining and hating on him. If you’re not happy with him as the QB then stop following the team. He’s going to be here for at least four more years so you might as well come to grips with it.

Don’t know why so many haters continue to follow the team. One of them claimed they’re done with the team with a long tearful goodbye as if anyone cares if they leave. lol They’ll check back every so often to see if anyone misses them.

I think it will be hard to maintain the same success in the second half of games when they still have no run game.

The game went as scripted for success for this team. When they play with a lead they are money, and playing a weak OL like the Browns was the perfect scenario as I stated before the game. Our test to see where the team is at will be when not playing with the lead, against a strong team. Wash, rinse, repeat and until we establish a solid run game it won't be as easy as it seemed on Sunday
