Wow that's a bit harsh. The guy is still a work in progress. Understand he doesn't have the arm talent or vision as the best of the best. But he can definitely develop into a better player. If he improves his foot work and speeds up his reads he can be more than solid, wouldn't you say?

I totally agree... I love Dak's character, but his progression over the past three years has been little. I just dont see franchise QB. Unless, someone wants to give me a new definition of franchise QB.

It's a valid point. Kellen had zero coaching experience and may be he is doing a good job or not, hard to tell by Dak's development. The issue is placing that much faith on a "coach" with no experience to mentor and teach a young struggling QB. Moore would probably be fine as a QB Coach to a Vet QB that needs less work on mechanics or learning NFL concepts. Colombo was just promoted to OL Coach, and while not having a ton of experience he does have a few years coaching experience, but they also brought in Houck as a consultant to help. Why not the same addition of a consultant for the QB Coach, someone that has experience in teaching and coaching fundamentals and mechanics? There isn't a cap on number of coaches or consultants, money is not an issue, so why not have someone experienced to be on staff to work with him on a daily/weekly basis? As important the QB position and the decision and consequences in extending money and time to a QB, it makes sense to have the best quality resources available.

Our presumed franchise QB regressed, and we fired the most credible QB coach on the team, and promoted a guy who was never coached up beyond PS level himself, and has 0 coaching experience.

As you say, maybe Moore could be a useful assistant, whether to a QB like Romo who coached himself ably, or to another QB coach with some proven competence. Fine. He's probably a wonderful fellow. Maybe a good coach someday. Maybe today. But on the basis of what would anyone think so this offseason?

We let our trainee OC/HC eat a decade of the team. Now we're spending developmental years of Dak's career developing the trainee QB coach.

I've kept my hope for Dak because it is clear to me that he is a warrior. Some of the QBs that come along since Dak don't have even half of the heart that he has, not even close. They wouldn't tolerate the pass rush or hits that he has had to deal with. They would just fall down and call it a day.

Do I expect him to become a Hall of Fame QB? Of course not, certainly not this early, not by any means. But the kid clearly has heart, and has had some really good games. So I'm willing to see how it turns out.

If Dak fails, then they have to hit that dumpster fire and hope they strike gold in draft or free agency. And really, how many guys have come out recently and have been significantly better than Dak? That's the truth.

dak HAS hit his ceiling. he's a game manager. a backup on most teams. he's a slightly less talented Trent Dilfer, with less ability to read the defense and less arm. He won't lose games, but his play won't usually win them either, except against severely injured teams

My main concern early in the year is he looked like he was regressing. However ever since the Houston game he’s been pretty good. His worst passer rating being 86 in Atlanta. The others 98 and above. (Washington he has the 2 fumbles when we played there though)

As many of you allude to. I’m just still not sure with dak. But I think he’s at the very least earned His way back into “wait and see” mode instead of “he’s a career backup”.

Amazing what giving him 1 quality wr does. Going forward I wish we would use dak in more rpo situations. I also would like to see him do more of what he did on coopers 90 td td.... and that’s let it rip. That was a perfect throw that shows he’s capable of doing it. He just has to find the balance between not making mistakes and taking chances.

I don’t think that’s true. The guy has all the physical traits to be a great QB. His mental aspect and techniques are what is missing. Those things can be improved upon. Romo alway took what was his biggest weakness and focused on that in the off season. He made huge strides doing that. It could work for Dak as well. Tony was mentally not ready to play at first either. He figured it out .

We blame the scheme, and coaches a lot, as we should. But the scheme that is in place is because of the QB as well.

Dak is a tough QB that can take a pounding, but the hesitation, and holding the ball to long, isn't going to be fixed by coaching.
He either needs to overcome it, and let it go, or at least throw it away. Quit taking some of the stupid sacks he takes. For anyone
waiting on the day he airs it out a lot, it ain't gonna happen. The mechanics have been wrong for so long, they aren't going to change either.

He is lucky he has the body he does, because he would already be carried off the field.

That run was impressive he made though...

Who knows... it took Russell Wilson forever to become good, and be able to pass consistently.
He was boring to watch as well for years... But, he ran a lot, and frankly Dak is going to need to as well.
Wilson had a defense and running game that made it work for him.

Dak is in luck at the moment, because so do we.

We already know that Jerry is keeping Dak, so maybe he will get there in another 3 years... Hopefully before the entire current roster is busted, or left for free agency, etc..

There was a bunch of cheering on the play with Cooper where it was meant for Beasley, but he saw the safeties split... That is stuff he should already know in college.
So, we have cheering going on for stuff he is supposed to know and do. Like it was some kind of thing 90% of the QBs wouldn't read well by year 3.
Great, he knows it now... So make this start working consistently.

I said it before, maybe he just doesn't retain information well. Maybe it takes 100 times seeing it, and hearing it to sink in. Maybe that is what they see in Dallas behind the scenes,
and believe it is worth it because of his physical traits. I am pretty sure that is it, because we know his Football I.Q. isn't great.

So maybe that is what it is... they just know eventually he will get it. I have no idea anymore, what they think inside those closed doors.

Was there a need for a true #1 receiver? Maybe small adjustments will now have some strong affect for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are now built for January!

We'll know on Thursday, early on...if they are truly in the mix, in the Saints game.

Drew Brees played 5 years in San Diego before being moved to New Orleans to team up with Sean Peyton. Dak's numbers surpass all 5 of those years Drew Brees had in San Diego.

You think Drew Brees ceiling was San Diego, cause many of your millennials want everything to happen right now. And take a look after 5 years in the league, Drew Brees changes scenery & coordinators, and wallah, had a HOF CAREER afterwards.

Now I don't know if Dak will follow the same path, but you've got to give the guy great coaching first to see.

There's a conceptual problem in claiming Dak has a ceiling lower than what he's already done as a rookie.

His rookie year is the floor of his ceiling. He can be at least that good, because he has been that good.

Not a complete fact onto itself...a stereotype. Some 'rooks' come in with guns blazing, yet fizzle out fairly quickly also. Checking the progress is a valid point...but that has to be monitored along the way.

Yeah, maybe you should read the entire thing. Drew Brees average to below average his first 5 years. In todays "get it done now" world, he would've been kicked off the Cowboys team, run out of town by fans like you. But he went to a SUPERIOR COACHING STAFF, and now he's a hall of famer.
