Dak Prescott is one of the best in the NFL at what he does, which includes protecting the football.

The young quarterback led the Dallas Cowboys on a historic 11-game win streak in 2016 and tied the all-time franchise record for most wins (13), with a key reason being his ability to not give the ball away to the opposing defense. It's an attribute he maniacal about, which shows his rookie stat line.

Prescott finished with 23 touchdowns to only four interceptions, landing him a passer rating of 104.9 -- the highest ever for an NFL rookie QB. And his first ever NFL interception didn't come until after he had already surpassed Tom Brady for the longest streak without one as a first-year signal caller, setting the new record at 176.

He recently spoke with the Talk of Fame Network to explain just how he's become so elite at not granting the defense extra possessions.

"Prepare," Prescott said, "And I think that's the greatest thing I can do and continue to get better at. By just knowing what the defense is going to give me, knowing my plays in and out, knowing where my checkdowns are, being able to get through my progressions fast all falls back on the preparation. And knowing when to take your chances -- knowing when the reward is worth the risk.

Last season watching the poise and preparedness that Dak showed is what impressed me and makes me feel confident that he will only improve. His play was not an accident, the kid puts in the work and time to know what is taking place in front of him and does not get shaken. He makes his reads he understands what the defense is doing and as he said he know when to take chances and when to play it safe.

His ability to get players around him to want to excel is what amazes me. A rookie made the players around him WANT to play better. Seems as if the entire team loves the guy, not just a select group of guys. The future is bright. I have no doubt about that.

Dak's level of dedication to being fully prepared is missing in the vast majority of rookie QBs. The great majority of rookies are sorely unprepared for many of the problems that defenses are likely to expose them to. It all boils down to a willingness to work tirelessly to become successful.

Dak's ability to overcome defensive maneuvers has been his calling card. It also helps in no small measure that he's intelligent and a dedicated student of the game. It has enabled his development to progress at an astounding pace. I'm expecting his 2017 performance to please us all.

DAK will be better this year, the OL will be better this year, ZEKE will be better this year, the WR's will be better this year and the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl this year.

Got a strong feeling that he won't be a one hit wonder. Completely different sport but his work ethic reminds me of Kawhi Leonard. They both want to work harder and be better than everyone else at their sport. His commitment to preparation gives me really high expectations for him. I really think he will become great. Preparation is what separates the Brady/Rodgers/Peyton's of the world from everyone else.
