Well hopefully he wins like Tom Brady without deflating balls like Tom Brady, Tom Brady

Don't see Dak going all Hollywood like Brady. Somehow Brady manages to be who he is and stay a fierce competitor on the field.

Pretty genius!

Everyone who is comparing this scenario to the Brady-Bledsoe scenario or the Romo-Bledsoe scenario is forgetting one really important thing. Both Brady and Romo OUTPLAYED Bledsoe. Prescott has done no such thing here. He has played great, yes, but he has not outplayed Romo. And Romo doesn't even get a chance to compete.

Romo himself said Dak earned the job:

"You see football is a meritocracy. You aren’t handed anything. You earn everything every single day, over and over again. You have to prove it. That’s the way that the NFL, that’s the way that football works. A great example of this is Dak Prescott and what he’s done. He’s earned the right to be our quarterback. As hard as that is for me to say, he’s earned that right. He’s guided our team to an 8-1 record, and that’s hard to do."

Bledsoe struggled for at least two seasons before 2001 when he was injured in week 2 against the Jets.

I would pay to see Romo's 11 against Dak's 11. Same O-line and everything equal except for the QB.

That doesn't mean he outplayed Romo. He's not in Romo's league yet. But he played well while Romo was out and the team is 8-1.

You have to be available and on the field in order to compete. Injuries have kept Romo off the field the last 2 seasons, and that opened the door for someone to step up and be dependable. It sucks for Romo b/c he has given this team everything he has and had some rotten luck with getting hurt (the Avril hit still irks me), but he hasn't been healthy enough to compete with Dak.

It would be unfair to take the ball away from Dak this season after what the kid has done for this franchise. Romo acknowledged it as well.

That's Romo being a team guy. Do you actually think he believes he is not better than a rookie QB? I've got news for you. No.

Again, when did that become a rule, if you got a guy who (in your words) is in a higher league at this point of their respective careers? I can probably come up with a hundred examples of where teams did exactly that, turn back to their high-performing starter after a period of injury and they did just fine. That argument just doesn't hold water. Is Zeke gonna stop running? Is the line gonna stop blocking? No, this is all about protecting the supposed fragile psyche of Dak Prescott, who has shown he has anything but a fragile psyche.

Newsflash: Romo is available to compete. Please don't talk to me about fair, Romo played MVP level ball the last time anyone saw him play for an extended period...and has lost his job to a rookie...without even being given a chance to prove himself.

He outplayed him by simply being on the field and available. Also-- his numbers over these past 8 games are on par with Romo's best 8 game stretch. Check out this article for the stats to back it up:

Exactly, and that article was written before Dak's outstanding game against the Steelers. I just hope Dak and the Cowboys continue their excellent play on Sunday. It's hard to do that week after week in the NFL.

Talent and capability aside, do you think Romo could stay healthy?

I think that uncertainty, combined with Dak's progress, is why they have made the hard decision to move on.

Life ain't always fair.

Difficult circumstances require leaders to make difficult decisions.

Considering we're 8-1 and one of the top teams in the league (if not thee top team), I'll trust that our FO has handled that difficult decision correctly, and made the right call until the results on the field indicate otherwise.

Ah, you're such an old soul with your wise words. Life ain't always fair. That brings...absolutely nothing to the table. Yes, that's a great argument for not allowing Romo to compete, life isn't fair. Outstanding work.
