Dallas calls Cleveland to talk Tony Romo, Cleveland says their not interested but they love & congratulate Jerry on Dak Prescott. Jerry says in a joking way "Well for Dak we'll have to have your #1, #12 and #33 plus next years 1st & 2nd round picks". Cleveland laughs and says "You're joking right"? Jerry laughs and says "If you're not interested then yes I'm joking". Cleveland stops laughing.

The Sell: Cleveland Browns QB History - Cleveland has whiffed drafting their last seven Qb's and whiffed on their last 26 QB's overall. They haven't hit a damn thing since Bernie Kosar 30 years ago in the '85 supplemental draft. Sipe had a couple good years in 70's/80's but they haven't had an elite QB since Otto Graham, that was almost 70 years ago. Dallas has two Qb's who are proven winners, at different periods in their careers with two different price tags.

Cleveland thinks hard about a Dak Prescott trade and determines Dallas is willing to play Romo. They start to think about how they can get a "Proven QB" and keep their draft picks too. They offer a late second round pick #52 for Romo. Jerry laughs and says Romo is healthy, rested, motivated and he's the 5th highest rated passer in NFL history so he's not available there. Cleveland laughs, Jerry laughs and starts talking about the great rookie year of Dak Prescott. Cleveland wants to think about, Jerry pours another tall one and gives them an hour. Cleveland comes back and offers an early second round pick #33 for Romo, preserving picks #1 and #12. Jerry acts uninterested, says "He will have to check with Stephen". The deal is done.

To help build value in a Tony Romo trade, find Dak's trade value. If there's a Hershel Walker like trade available for Dak Prescott, that must be looked at too. What if Cleveland came back and took the Prescott deal? Would you do it?

What would you need in a trade with Cleveland for Dak Prescott and who would you draft with the picks?

No I wouldn't trade Dak Prescott.
The draft is a huge gamble and I don't trade diamonds for potential diamonds.

And no chance Romo is traded to Cleveland. Jerry wouldn't do that and Tony would probably rather retire and enjoy golfing and broadcasting before going there and getting beat up.

If Cleveland offered #33 for Romo, I'd take that in a heartbeat over trading Dak.

With #28 & #33, you could potentially move to the middle of the 1st and grab a guy you like a lot.

That's the idea but if they take the bait on a Hershel Walker like trade...not a bad thing to look at it.

I have never seen a fan fiction post on this site before... At least it's something different.

i think the op is just being contrarian and wanted to discuss a hypothetical - we are all bored in the offseason...
no way anyone would trade a young qb who sets up the team for 15 years or more.
even if you used all those picks to draft another qb, you would likely not get someone as good as dak

Trading Dak sounds insane but if the Browns bit on Jerry's offer (five picks including two #1's and a #2 pick) it would have to be seriously considered actionable. We are talking about Cleveland so these are high draft picks.

High picks that could be busts. Browns draft every year high and draft busts.

Given how hard it is to find a quality QB I would not even think about trading Dak. Hell even 1st overall QB can bust in this league. Any team fortunate enough to find a smart and talented QB such as Dak you stay with him. As BP says their is no 1-800-QB you can just dial up and get.

You don't trade away a guy who has arguably had the best rookie season at qb in the history of the game. You have a guy who went head to head against Roethlesberger and Rodgers and came away with victories in regular season and could have beat Rodgers if the defense would have held up. With all the teams searching for a QB, making that trade would be nonsensical. Who knows how many of those picks you'd have to burn trying to find another QB.

I wouldn't trade up this year in that scenario. There will be a very good pass rusher and CB available at both those spots. I'd sit back at take what falls at those spots and be very very happy.

I would never trade Dak, you want to go buy a million more lottery tickets with the one you made a fortune on? That's what goes through my head when people are ready to throw away our future.

I would guess, maybe a 2nd? Why would anyone trade a first for Dak, Wentz, Winston etc. when they could just use that first themselves on a QB with a 5 year contract who could develop in their system? None of the QBs drafted recently are generational talents, they are nice players with some upside but certainly not worth giving up a first for. Truthfully, history has shown that very few players in the history of the league have commanded a first. The pick is just too valuable.

The No. 1 pick last year was a QB who didn't win the starting job and wasn't very good when he played (54.6 completion percentage, 5 TDs to 7 INTs).

The No. 12 pick, DT Sheldon Rankins, wasn't bad for New Orleans with 4 sacks, 20 tackles and 1 FF despite not starting any games.

The No. 33 pick, Kevin Dodd, had 1 sack and 5 tackles in nine games, including one start.

Would you give Dak up for that, even considering that you also would get a chance to miss again on Cleveland's first and second picks the next year?
