I have said this repeatedly since the trade Dak threads started. Don't know why I even still click on them but here it is again. Finding a franchise QB is probably the hardest thing to do in all of sports, let alone finding one in the 4th round, go ask 24 other teams in this league and they will tell you the same thing. You do not trade one away, regardless of compensation, regardless of circumstance in his 4th round ROOKIE DEAL. I don't care what you offer me. It ain't happening.

Cleveland wouldn't trade those picks for Dak.

Let's not forget that the Browns could have just stayed where they were and taken Wentz. They would be a laughing stock to trade multiple picks for a guy taken in round 4 last year...........and while I love Dak, NO, he wouldn't have the same success in Cleveland.....period.

The No. 1 pick last year was a QB who didn't win the starting job and wasn't very good when he played (54.6 completion percentage, 5 TDs to 7 INTs).

The No. 12 pick, DT Sheldon Rankins, wasn't bad for New Orleans with 4 sacks, 20 tackles and 1 FF despite not starting any games.

The No. 33 pick, Kevin Dodd, had 1 sack and 5 tackles in nine games, including one start.

Would you give Dak up for that, even considering that you also would get a chance to miss again on Cleveland's first and second picks the next year?

This is not what the post said or asked but personally I would look at all scenarios. It's business.

I wouldn't trade up this year in that scenario. There will be a very good pass rusher and CB available at both those spots. I'd sit back at take what falls at those spots and be very very happy.

Sure, but all I'm saying is it gives you options.

Its not business when you tank your money making franchise by trading away your meal ticket for the next decade at a minimum. Its actually business suicide.

Who said trade him away? Read the post. I said always "look" at all offers.

I traded Romo for a 2nd round pick instead of releasing him. lol

High picks that could be busts. Browns draft every year high and draft busts.
The Browns draft busts every year because it's the Browns personnel doing their drafting. Don't mistake that for what the Cowboys have been doing of late. IMO, it's what makes the difference between good teams and bad teams.

No one drafts busts like the Browns. So much so that it should be their team slogan.

If you pick in the top 10 every year like most of these teams do.....you draft busts. In the top 10 every year the majority of those guys end up it fulfilling their potential or being a bust.

Drafting a bust and picking top 10 every year go hand in hand... It's a Browns thing. If they could do better they would.

The draft isn't that simple though lol.
The complexity of the draft varies from team to team. As of late, Jerry and company at the Star are having a much easier time of it than the Browns. I'm sure you are right... for the Browns, the draft isn't that simple, lol.

There is no more valuable player than Dak in the league.

A pro bowl QB under a 3rd day rookie contract with 3 years left on his deal is the most coveted asset in the NFL. And he was better than Roethlisberger, RG3, and Wilson were in their rookie years.

Take the best trade package that it took to trade up to the top pick, double it and you start to get close.
