Dak has a cult of personality on this board which believes the Cowboys exist for Dak. Dak must be "given" perfect head coach, offense, defense and special teams for him to not choke in big games.

Notice the framing: Dak must be given all these ingredients and pieces...and only then can we judge him? NONSENSE. Dak was coddled and AIDED by those weapons...it's not like Dak came in as a college champion, blue chip talent or even with astounding measurables. He's a try-hard, do-good mid QB whose intangibles are supposed to set him apart. Too bad he has deep trauma and chokes in pressure moments. Not sure how this QB must be "given" anything.

And then there's the fact that when you look at it...Dak has been given TONS OF TALENT!!! He's got 2 all pro WRs...but that's not enough for TheBSContinues.

From around 2010 to now you have to take all stats in basketball and football specifically with a grain of salt.

Individual stats are only meaningful if they’re compared against one’s peers of the same era. The NFL today emphasizes the pass and offense. It’s ridiculous to compare a skill player today to one from previous eras. A 1k rushing RB doesn’t compare in any way with one from the 60s or 70s just because of the difference in the number if regular season games.

Exactly. Anyone with intelligence knows this. It's certain people with moronic tendencies who you use stats in a watered down era with defenses in handcuffs as clickbait.

That's the thing about sports fandom. It's one of the few things that holds lifelong interest for both the crusty old codgers and the fresh-faced neophytes.

There are hardcore fans here with no eyes on connection to the good old days. Fans old enough to vote, serve their country, get married, have kids, get divorced, etc, but still too young to have witnessed those good old days.

Even though I disagree with a very hearty chuckle I can't help but cut the youngsters some slack for just not knowing what they don't know. I can see how they come to seeing Prescott as QB1 in Cowboys lore. These are the best of times for them.

I'm 33 years old haven't seen anything other than a divisional playoff game. Memories include Tony Romo fumbling the snap, Green-Bay multiple collapses and the Dez catch.

The best games I've seen are in the regular season, most fun season to watch was 2014 and 2016. That's all I have man.

Not arguing pro or con on Dak, but want to point out the GM never built a championship defense after Jimmy Johnson. So, it has been the owner/gm who has ruined the Cowboys chances of getting to and winning a SB. Dak and Tony R most certainly could have been competitive in the playoffs with consistantly better defenses.

Since we're going there, my favorite season was 1992. I was 18 and most of my teenage years, it was brutal being a Cowboys fan...even through high school. And even though we turned it around in '91, the '92 season was surprisingly a roller coaster ride:

• We got off to a 3-0 start, but then got whipped on a Monday Night game in Philthy.
• I think the very next game we played Seattle and shut them out 27-0. (I think Irvin got knocked out that game.).
• Then we went on a run...Emmitt went on a run. Troy, Emmitt and Michael were league leaders in passing yards, completion percentage, yards per carry, yards from scrimmage, catches for a RB, catches for a WR, yards for....you get the point.
• We ended the season hot, Emmitt won the rushing title and Jimmy cut Curvin Richards for fumbling twice in a meaningless when we were up 2 TDs
• The first playoff game was against Philly and we crushed them!

This was 30+ years ago so I may not have all the details right, but 92 was an awesome season. If you had experienced 92, you would have known not to get your hopes too high with the 2014 and 2016 squads.
