Oh wait, the Eagles did have a running game in the SB without Barkley. Hurts ran for 72 yards, with a number of key runs extending drives. Can Dak do that too?

I am all for bigger in trenches for sure but I think LT will be hard to find this year.
I'm not sure Will Johnson will belisted at an OT for Dallas given his arm length and he might be the best in this class.

I'd probably go:
Teta WR R1
Collins NT R2 --play in tandem with Mazi day 1
RB -- R3 I like 5-6 guys in this class
Small school CB R5 -- lots of success there.
OL R5

BPA rest of draft. Hopefully a QB/Safety/LB.

Spagnola would stop our run on 1st down. Play pass 2nd and 3rd.
Force our offenses into being vanilla and predictable then fool Dak in 2nd half with a run look that flips pass at snap.
Forced turnover in all likelihood.

Meanwhile Andy Reid would be throwing out insane play calls like double screens and WR passes to keep us on our heels on defense.
Dak can't touch Mahomes, but the coaching gap is at least that wide.

This is why a RB in the first wouldn't surprise me at all. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised to see them not draft one until the 4th or even 5th, given their recent... "style" of roster moves.

IF this team can stay focused on DL/OL and defense until they're actually playoff quality then I'll be surprised. Straying off for RB and WR as high draft picks is par for the course with these dufuses.

We have heard about getting more physical and committing to the run. Nothing in FA has fallen in alignment with that so far in my opinion.

We will see how the draft goes.

As Dak Prescott begins year the first new year of his massive four-year, $240 million deal signed in 2024, it’s almost impossible to be at least mildly concerned with his long-term health and wellness.

Prescott’s mobility has seen a significant decline since that gruesome compound fracture suffered back in 2020 and now the Cowboys signal-caller is generally resigned to a pocket-focused role with scrambles even falling outside his area of expertise. In an era when mobility has never been more en vogue, the Cowboys find themselves moving in the opposite direction of league trends.

It's hard to envision the Cowboys running the ball more often than passing, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see something more balanced than it was under Mike McCarthy.

The current left tackle is being retained and they will attempt to get him up to speed and focused to NFL demands. Accountability on play levels have to become stronger once again. Butt whipping is no longer acceptable on the field.

Membou is a dominant tackle but a right tackle. That would tend to stabilize outside play developments. And he is a strong run blocking tackle... putting opposing linebackers on their heels. Elevate Guyton at the left tackle. That already is set in stone now. Year two focus for him...pride is the element missing in completing assignment and keeping Prescott on his feet.

Offensive and Defensive tackle is the direction that needs to be added here and now as well as a 4 to 5 year stabilization of cap.

Top shelf WR has the highest level of affects both on the field and the next four years in the cap!

Veteran free agent QBs still available include Teddy Bridgewater, Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Drew Lock and Tyler Huntley. Any one of these names would signal the Cowboys’ high expectations for the 2025 season. Rolling into the new season with Will Grier or a late round/undrafted rookie as QB2 would signal something quite different.

I know you weren't initially referencing his money. I was, though. Because that is the only thing he has proven anybody wrong about.

BTW. I always knew Jerry was going to Jerry and sign Dak to a ridiculous contract in a misguided effort to prove his place as a football man who found the worlds best QB in the 4th round.

I am not sure Guyton is ready yet.
And I'm not likely to take a RT at 12. Steele graded out very well over the final half of the season.
I'm all for giving Guyton a chance because his measurables are through the roof but he has literally never graded out well at OT.
He was a college TE who grew into an OT for OU that graded out awful poorly.
Was drafted based on potential and was terrible as a rookie.
So I really need to see it from him before I consider LT a closed case.

Tyron Smith was pretty soft last year as well but I might have to double down and resign him for a year to get some cover at LT.


This team needs to improve its roster in the worst way. It has fully stepped back to middle of the pack by letting capable NFL bodies go in free agency and not bothering to replace them.
