Good stuff PH.

I wish there were a stat of "amount of time QB holds the ball" because I would be shocked if Dak isn't #1 in that.

There is a stat that measures the time to throw, and Prescott ranks 10th.

That doesn't include sacks though, and it doesn't tell you what happened on the throw either. I think you're really looking for something that tells you which sacks were the fault of the QB. PFF has that stat, and I'll post the updated numbers as soon as they do.

IMO overall fumbles is a more accurate indicator of protecting the football than lost fumbles, simply because once you put the ball on the ground everything else is just luck. You either hold onto the ball or you don't.

Facts are stubborn things. Good post PH.

The problem with these “facts” is Passer rating isn’t a fact, it’s an interpretation of a bunch of facts. It’s a mathematical formula that is trying to quantify QB play to some number. Dak doesn’t throw close to as many passes as many of these QBs for example. He also checks down a lot when he has guys wide open and can get bigger chunks. None of these ratings capture what Dak leaves on the field either.

Weeden has a 107.7 rating with Houston the year he was traded. He had a plus 90 here.

Perhaps, but lost fumbles are a turnover same as an INT.
A fumble that you recover is just like a sack.

Does Dak have a problem protecting the ball when the pocket is collapsing? Yes!
Does Dak have a turnover problem? No!

1 of those things is forgivable and allows you to average 10 wins per season; the other is/does not.

Who was missing in the first 3 weeks that would change the stats significantly?

Amari Cooper?????

He was also missing for another 4 games after that also.

Percy is pointing out, as he has done before that Dak started out REALLY REALLY bad the first 3 games of the season and overall has trended upward since then. Which increased further since the acquisition of Amari Cooper.

He still isn’t good enough yet. But he went from being DREADFUL to being middle of the pack.

The question is, is middle of the pack good enough with our defense and running back?

These numbers show what I think we all know. Dak is about an average NFL QB. Those saying before have to consider there are 32 teams. He's in the 10-16 range for just about every stat. Not great, not crap.
I didn't mention it, but all the passing stats are based on the 32 QB with the most attempts in each category. For example, over the last 12 games, 10 passers have a higher rating, and 21 have a lower rating than Dak.
