When you refuse to throw the ball until a WR is wide open it screws up so much of the passing game and QBR doesn’t really mean anything. It’d be like measuring QBR in camp with no defense. His QBR should be much higher because he only throws to unguarded WRs. He’s so bad he misses them with regularity.
Throwing to the guy that's open is pretty much job 1.
So weird flex but go off sis.

Dak is completing 68% of his passes. That isn't missing anything with regularity.

Would be easier to take his critics seriously if they weren't just bald-faced lying or pulling nonsense out of their butts that had zero tie to reality.

Does he hold the ball too long? Yes.
Does he have poor footwork when the play breaks down? Yes.

Is he getting plus OL play? No.
Is he accurate by NFL standards? Yes.

Every QB in the league misses passes and misses seeing open guys on a weekly basis.
Both occur more frequently when the guy is pressured.
Sturm has pointed this out many many times.

More context would be Romo had Hall of Famer Terrell Owens and Hall of Famer Jason Witten to throw to.
Those 2 combines for 2500 yards receiving.
Also worth noting wayyy back in 2007 Tony Romo was paid $11,250,000 APY in salary. DAk makes ~ 1/20h of that this year.

We either keep it simple or we look at the whole picture.

That is true as well. As I said I was not making a delineation between the two, just pointing out that numbers do not always show everything.

By the way, what does salary have to do with how you perform? Just asking, are you saying if someone sucks its ok to suck because they aren't being "paid enough"? Kind of stupid if you ask me. Romo was off his rookie contract, Dak isn't. We are not allowed to extend him until this summer via NFL rules. Romo was 2nd in the NFC the year before in QB rating while making $900,000 under his rookie contract. How is that for your APY? Also, isn't Dak trying to play for his next contract?

More context would also indicate Drew Bledsoe also played in those circumstances of TO and Witten and Parcells looked like a dead man on the sidelines, until Romo saved the season.

This thanks.

as long as he's only throwing every single short pass and completing them his QB Rating will be skewed. No yards, no threat, but also no picks and high completion percentage. Dude is literally playing the game of business decisions.

Except when it comes to late or close games, which is where I do think he deserves a lot of credit. He may be 10-16 for most of the game, but he takes it up a notch when the game comes down to the wire (which most of ours do partly because of those other three quarters).
And this goes for his entire career, not just the last 12 games.

attempts in 4th qtr or OT of one-score games
155 of 233 67% 1995 yd 8.6 ypa 14 td 2 int 109.6
all other attempts
790 of 1194 66% 8453 yd 7.1 ypa 49 td 23 int 92.4

Congratulations..

Dak, after three quarters of futility, finally recognized Press man coverage and passed to Cooper. It only took third string DBs with no safety help over the top because Jim Schwartz and DC don’t respect Dak, while they are doing this while in the FOURTH quarter..

He’s amazing but now he can’t find Cooper at all for some reason.. I wonder why...

The NFL is a price per performance league.
Salary 100000% matters.
That's why guys get released when they are overpaid and why Romo is now in a booth.
Had Romo said hey let's renegotiate me down to 4-5 mil a year he'd have never been released.
But he can and does make more than that in the broadcast booth obviously.

End of the day Dak has never missed a start and Romo was always one hit away from missed time even with him not practicing on Wednesdays.

When Dak's salary goes up his expectations should as well.
That's exactly what happened with Russell Wilson and how it should happen for anyone.

Dak is currently the 2nd or 3rd best value at QB in football behind Mahomes and maybe Goff. Constantly complaining about that borders on insanity. Especially when the team is sitting in the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 seasons and beat the defending champion rivals twice.

I wanna fight Dak on spring break 2019...bus driving qb will hold Dallas back

This is such a weird post...why would you want to fight someone for doing their job to the best of their ability no matter how good or bad they are? Why would you want to fight anybody if they are not posing a direct threat to you or your family?

Why not ten score games?

Do yourselves a favor and get off google and watch the games.

I do not care what Daks check down numbers amount to.
Again, Prescott's passer rating ranks 15th on both the shorter and deeper throws.

Target less than 15 yards
9th in attempts
10th in yards
15th in passer rating

Target 15+ yards
18th in attempts
16th in yards
15th in passer rating

Romo's consistent inability to stay on the field and Dak's record breaking rookie year was his undoing, not his salary.

Well the good news is, only one game left and we can just analyze the entire completed season, no more of this Dak slobbering “last N games” or “games since Cooper arrived” nonsense that apparently only applies to Dak. With one game to go it looks like the only major stats Dak will rank in the top half of will be completion and interception percentage, with most other stats in the 20-25 range.
Through 15 games
Rating: 19th
QBR: 22nd
Comp %: 8th
INT %: 9th
Sacks %: 28th
Yards/Attempt: 22nd
Adj. Net Yards/Attempt: 24th
TD%: 24th
Yards/game: 24th

Easily the worst qualifying season by a Cowboys starter since Testaverde.

Basically proves Cowherd's point that Dak is an average QB with A+ intangibles. He would wash out without Zeke and the OL but could be Trent Dilfer with the team we have.

I'm okay with that if we don't break the bank to keep him. I'm just tired of people trying to prove how amazing Dak is. I don't think Dak would even try to make that case.

salary was a major component.
pretending otherwise is foolish beyond words.

Romo was scheduled for 25M in 2017.

Passing rules are easier than ever. People need to stop comparing Dak's stats to anyone other than someone who has played during the last 3 years.

It's just not a real comparison otherwise.
This is something most people don't get -- if you're going to compare raw passer ratings, the players must be from the same era. Otherwise, you need to adjust the rating or just look at where it ranked for that season.

League Avg passer rating
2015-18
89.9
2011-14
86.2
2007-10
83.2
2003-06
80.4
1999-2002
78.5

There was no Cowboy passer who had enough attempts to qualify for the statistical leaderboard that year. Cassel fell short, and Romo/Weeden weren’t close. Back under your rock, troll.
