I agree Reality is different, and some big names are on older deals so Dak will get paid...29 seems a bit rich.

What’s scary is, Kirk Cousins, a below .500 QB as a starter for two teams, is currently getting $87mil / 3yrs, fully guaranteed. Does anybody here seriously believe that Jerry doesn’t think Dak’s worth more $$ than Cousins?

Jerry’s made it clear that, no matter what, Dak’s gonna get paid and paid LARGE.

The only reason this is the case is because teams will overpay for production at the position.

There is no reason on earth Ryan Tannehill should have ever got his contract.

We will likely be in the same boat the Dolphins are in a few years. Cutting the player and eating the cap hit.

Dak's contract will lookk bad for a year or two, until all the other QB's get paid and they will be making more than him- then it wont look so bad.

The going rate for a Good QB is 20 million.

23 Million a year for Dak is fair for 5 years. Opt out after 3.

Plus, cap space seems to be going up 10 million a year!

Dalton, Smith, and Mayfield are definitely worth discussing in that second group as well. You can comment about how good you think they are, but it’s hard not to admit they’re all head and shoulders above what’s left (Tannehill, Mariota, Eli) before we get into the dumpster of first year guys and backups.

I would consider Mayfield over Prescott. MAYBE Smith over Prescott if it were a 1 year thing... don’t forget he was a perennial 11 win an before he brought the lowly Commanders to 6-2. If I remember right, he led the league in qb rating in 2017

Having said that, pretty sure I read an article showing that in the last 8 games Dak was in the top 10 in several categories like yards and completion percentage.
