When is the last time we got small samples of someone being great and they turned out to not be so great? Of any team, anywhere?

In the pre-season? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

It's just so good and most of the time the really good NFL QB's are just awful as rookies.

I think he'll be good but i'll be shocked if he isn't a bit of a turnover machine as a rookie.

Here is the game against Alabama. No wonder Dak is so good with those back shoulder throws, he did it frequently in college.

Good Lord he was under attack. LSU had pressure on him on just about every pass ... laid a hit on him half the time ... and still had the receivers blanketed. LSU's defense was MUCH better than MSU's offense. Prescott did good to leave the game with all his teeth intact.

I've gone back to watch his college games to refresh my memory of how he plays in meaningful games. While he took an L in this game, I think this is one of the more impressive games I've seen from him going up against a tough LSU defense that night.

While watching Dak in preseason, some of his passes have had me worried since I haven't seen much zip on the ball. Then I see the pass at 5:11, and he shows he has the arm strength to fit balls into tight spaces. This made me feel a lot better knowing he can put some zip on the ball when he needs to.

The most impressive part of this game though is the final drive (Outside of the delay of game, of course). Does this guy ever get rattled? Even with the O-Line breaking down throughout this game, Dak is poised as hell. Always looking downfield, always knowing where a player is to dump it off if need be. Actually, I'd say he might have been TOO relaxed on that final drive which led to a costly penalty.

Going back and watching these games, I'm starting to remember why I liked him so much as a prospect. Everything he's shown in preseason he showed in college, but it seems he may have taken his game to another level. I expect the regular season to give him some trouble, he's a rookie and this should be expected, but I don't think he had a few fluky preseason games. I keep bringing this up, but his preseason reminds me a lot of what Wilson showed back in 2012.

Great stuff, thanks for posting and letting the rest of the board see Dak in action !!!!!!

He had Miss. St ranked as the #1 team in the country in 2014 and his supporting cast was not very good.

Also, I'm glad he had experience playing big road games in the SEC.. I think that huge to learn to play against quality defenses with crazy crowds on the road.

That's the thing, that offense looked very overmatched against LSU's defense.

That's exactly my prediction as well. The first 2-3 weeks will be fine, possibly even impressive offensively. It's weeks 4 -- until Romo returns where things could get shaky for Dak as tendencies are developed and opposing coaches have something to work with.

Well, we would hope that Dak is also fine tuning his craft while coaches are studying him.

Man, and there were a few throws where his receivers did no favors for him. Now he has players to throw to like Witten and Dez. I'm excited and nervous about this at the same time. lol

Yep, and still lost by one point (should have been tied if it wasn't for the drop and probably should have won if it wasn't for the delay of game)

Watching that offense, looking back now, you can clearly see Prescott is just far and above the rest of the talent on that team.

College defenses are vanilla as can be.

College defenses have to go up against some of the more athletic QBs out there. They have less talent than what the NFL has on single teams, sure, but this is LSU and they are not vanilla.

Good post Matt.

Yeah, he is going to have trouble, it's just the way it is but I think he'll have the Giants on their heels a bit because there isn't any regular season tape on him. Also on Colin yesterday, Pete Schrager said Linehan and Garrett are implementing a lot of new offensive wrinkles and you can bet that will including a lot of read option since both he and Zeke did a lot of that in college.

I truly believe we can beat the Giants and Dak can look pretty good. It's weeks 3,4,5 when the tape is out is when the real adjustments begin. I'm really excited by his potential, it just might be a little early for him still.

Can't wait though!
It's kind of a blessing that we play 2 division games up front before there is a lot of tape on Dak to gameplan against him. I agree that I'm more worried about the games closer and around the bye then I am about the giants and Commanders.
