Its a certainty he can only improve. Count on it.
I agree, especially after what Wovicek( or whatever our strength and conditioning coach name is) said. If he's a sponge and a student of the game, he'll also get better and reading defenses as defenses read him. It'll be fun to watch. It'll be funner to watch if he wins, or I mean when he wins.

I am not an LSU fan but they are frustrating to watch. I think they squander talent every year despite winning a lot of games.

I agree though that they one of the best benchmarks to see them play against other prospects. LSU has NFL size and tend to have several NFL secondary players. I remember Manziel struggling against them. When someone stands out against LSU, it makes an impression with me. I remember Texas Tech had a receiver last year (drafted by the Dolphins) who looked to be the faster player on the field against LSU with a team full of fast guys. That game made me want to draft him.

I said this in another thread but I rewatched the three preseason games over the last couple of days and noticed some small but important differences in his game. Game one he was locked on to a primary receiver. He improved game two and against Seattle you could see him either go through his progressions or get the ball out quickly when he felt the pressure. I think his mechanics could use some work and, to me, he has a tendency to float a ball from time to time and that will come back to bite him in the ***.

All of that said I'm pleasantly surprised by him and hope he's the answer for now and in the future. I'm hoping that Romo will get in his ear and teach him how to read the defenses he'll face.

Not going to rush out and buy a #4 jersey but I have my fingers crossed for the young man.

A little more Wilson and Prescott comparisons. Prescott, like Wilson, displayed that "It" factor in college.

I think Prescott late in the 4th quarter is when he'll really shine.

College defenses have to go up against some of the more athletic QBs out there. They have less talent than what the NFL has on single teams, sure, but this is LSU and they are not vanilla.

They disguise nothing, run no zone blitz coverages like what's in the NFL.....nothing.

College football is rudimentary compared to the NFL.

Dallas' personnel will help tremendously though.

...because it's not the NFL. They are going up against completely different offensive schemes. The read option is flourishing in college due to speedster RB/WRs and athletic QBs. But to say they don't disguise anything is going a little far. They certainly do disguise, DCs don't sit around scratching their butts all week. They have a job to do and that is coming up with weekly schemes and disguises, just like the NFL.

But again, this was LSU. They are not "vanilla" on defense. Some of the defenses Prescott had to face in his college career are the closest to the NFL-level you'll face in college and is most likely the reason he looks so NFL ready.

The read option is a high school gimmick offense for idiots that gets quarterbacks killed in the NFL.

He had Miss. St ranked as the #1 team in the country in 2014 and his supporting cast was not very good.

Also, I'm glad he had experience playing big road games in the SEC.. I think that huge to learn to play against quality defenses with crazy crowds on the road.

Yup. Just this. All day. Love the kid.

I'm thinking he will do well as the O line here can let and give him time to read and throw.

He was taking a lot of hits in college.

Is is possible that Dak will actually have less defensive pressure on him in the NFL than he had on him in college? Man for man our OL are going to be better than their defensive counterparts. In college most weeks Daks OL were probably worse than their defensive counterparts across the line from them.

This is my hope for Dak exactly. For once, he doesn't have to be everything for the team. He can just play.

Long term, I feel great about him. These first few games.....let's hope the running game is in full form.
