Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

False. He DID go to multiple 2nd and 3rd reads. And his throws were on point. Much improved from last week.

Keep telling yourself that bs. Doesn’t Minnesota have a legit defense? Yet they still needed , 27 points to get a tie? And their qb threw for 400 yards..so you think that 160ish per game we get from our qb is gonna get it done? At some point a qb has to make some real plays. Just saying, hey, our didnt turn it over is not good enough. Cousins turned it over.....but he actually made some real plays.

Dak wasn’t that good last night. He was decent. I would say a B.

That being said, can we please stop with the “if you take away the longest throw”. Blah blah blah.

I can’t stand that.

Dak has been getting ripped for not throwing deep enough, rightfully so, but now when he does throw deep, all of a sudden everybody wants to remove his credit for doing so?

On the play to Austin. Dak read the defense properly, looked off the safety, and then threw a beautiful pass that hit Austin in stride WHILE getting hit immediately after throwing. So Dak does all that, and we want to remove the play to evaluate his game?

Asinine.
Agree, we can play that game on most QB's, take away this or that. He played better than he did in CAR but he will have to start playing better each week because the competition is going to get stronger.

Again as usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle...

Dak was good enough to not be bad and lose the game, but the offense still needs to be better if we are going to win big games vs good teams.

Was Dak bad? No, not at all. He didn’t make mistakes and made a handful of nice throws. His legs helped a ton. The team also won the game, that usually helps.
But was he good? No I don’t think so either. The team flat out still struggled to move the ball down the field after the 1st TD drive. If that’s a playoff team I’m not so sure we win that game at all. We are going to have to figure out how to consistently put up more than 20 points on the board.

I did watch the game.... again his throws aren't that good, he is not going to his 2nd, and 3rd options and he had plays to be made down the field. his footwork was sometimes high schoolish and at other times decent. when he set his feet and stepped into his throws, he made them...otherwise they were all over the place.....and the final stats validate what the eyes saw....
He made one throw to the middle of the field last night that the camera lost track of...he was on his A game last night. Stop hating.

For this team to really go places the offense has to score more than 14 points, their average to date. Not likely that the D will hold other teams under a 14 point average. Still, Prescott improved and love the RPOs. Linnehan opened the playbook a bit. Zeke ran for tough yards and the O-line played somewhat better. 2 stupid penalties by Tyron and La'ell totally blew off one drive. They have to clean that up. You can make the woes all about Prescott but it wouldn't be close to the truth. The offense improved but needs to improve more. Prescott did miss a TD to Rico but I expect we'll see more of Mr Gathers. Should see more of Tavon too and I'm liking what I see in Gallup. Thompson and Dak seem to have some confidence together too. It takes time or as you folks like to mimic, it's a process
What have you possibly seen from Gallup to make you say you like what you have seen from him so far?

and he was still very average...... and he was still making throws without his feet set and his first instinct was pull the ball down and run.....this ain't college wishbone offense...if you don't make accurate throws down field from the pocket... you are doomed to suck...
But he did all those things. He made accurate throws, he went down field on multiple passes. Last week it was Dak doesn't run enough, this week it's he runs too much. The fact you and his other haters can never give him credit shows your bias. You're also wrong about his first instinct is to run. But what else to expect from a bias hater

ok, even with that he was 6.8 YPA...he still had foot work problems......

he made deep throws...okey doke...he made one completion....woohoo

I thought he was average to mediocre last night which is all they needed since the D played lights out.

I hear you, but ... nah, they need better than that, consistently. Even if he was somewhat acceptable/effective yesterday. Now, if this was his floor/odd type of game level, it'd be something different. Sadly it's closer to his ceiling.

the score was 13-3 in the 4th..... 13 points.... and we had a TD drive which he looked good...the defense played fantastic...when you hold the opponent to 3 points with 6 minutes to go....you have done your job.....the defense had 6 sacks and gave the offense good team position...giants were true to their word...loading the box and daring Dak to beat them....he did...with 6 yard throws...again, he did have one 64 yard TD pass... but the rest of the time it was very very average
If they are giving you six yards every down it is the same as a good handoff...

in the first game he has about 8 or 9 really ughly throws where his jumping like a basketball shot and his feet were next to each other parallel to the LOS....gives you no power at all...

in this game he had a few more of those......
He has to stop reverting to that if he ever hopes to improve. Last night when he set his feet and stepped into it, he was accurate and had some zip on the ball. When he gets happy feet he sails the ball or throws a worm burner and he gets happy feet far too much for my liking.

he was good enough..played against tough defense and had no pocket and a slow running game.. it happens two great defenses in row to start 2018 the expectations weren't to put up the greatest show on turf numbers..we lost one by 8 and won one 1-1 lets move on...
can this offense put up 28 or 30 points? there will be upcoming games we would have to...there aren't that many easy defenses in this league....you go out and you dominate if you are good. you look average when you are average and right now this offense is average..... this offense needs a dominant defense and that's ok, because a few years or couple of years back, the defense was average and needed the offense to control TOP and score a bunch to be average defense...now it seems its offense's turn.... we just need both to be good to have success.....

right now, I can't see an offense that can consistently score in the mid to high 20s....it will be a tough struggle all year

his first instinct was pull the ball down and run

Hmm, don't think that was the case, the runs to me seemed more planned, and on at least one of the impromptu runs he saw that he could run for more yards than the pass would likely get, so even if it was instinct (which I doubt), it was the right call. I said last week the Cowboys needed to put in some more planned runs for Dak, and to me they did that.

But on at least 2 of the runs he got the first down then continued to run, resulting in getting hit pretty hard, want to see some slides instead of trying for a few more yards. This is the NFL, you saw what happened to Eli, he could have gotten hurt if the tackle was just a bit improper.

Don't have a backup capable of filling Dak's shoes, imho, Rush can't run like Dak and White is too green (and he doesn't have the line or running game that Dak had in 2016), he goes down for very long and it's going to be ugly....

yeah, not sure what to believe coming out of Jerry World..... but it wouldn't surprise me to see Jerry and Stephen over rule the coaches....Dak and the team were hot, they were winning, fans were excited....and it meant jersey sales and ratings etc....which sounds like Jerry...ride the marketing horse
So you think this team has to be playing well to get ratings? Do you pay attention to the nfl much? In 2015 we stunk and the cowboys had like 7 of the ten highest rated game s that season. Why don’t all of you learn this FACT. Jerry needs to do nothing to keep making money and get ratings.....NOTHING.

What the **** are you even talking about? I responded to a suggestion that Prescott never hit his 2nd or 3rd read. Which is false. I couldn't care less about what other teams did in your rant, all I care about is that we won. The team played much better. Go whine to someone else.

Sorry, you are dead wrong. He was accurate last night and made some great throws. Multiple times he had pressure in his face as soon as the ball was snapped. Also had good throws that the WRs did not make plays on. Not to mention the penalties.

Nothing but over-exaggerating throws any NFL QB can make once in awhile. “A QB can throw it if he has a clean pocket.” You think???

Two of them were when the Giants were down and doing absolutely nothing all night and there was no pressure on Dak. The long pass play was basically scripted, meaning it was practiced.

Those two throws can more than be countered by TWO, should have been picks, by the Giants DL and the corner throw by Dak to Beasley at the corner end-zone. The first one, Dak started down his receiver and the other was the one people blamed last year on trying to force it to Dez.

You realize there are other players involved, right? An oline that was allowing immediate pressure on third down (hence the throw-aways). Receivers not making plays on catchable balls.
Please tell me the exact receivers that were not making plays on those great passes.

16/25 for 160, that's a 64% completion rate and 6.4 yards par pass...which is bad onto it self......one play was for 64...which is good, but that means he was 15/24 for 96 yards.....and a paltry 4 yards per pass attempt.... that's ugly. really ugly... that means that teams don't respect the deep or medium throws and willing to gamble...yes they gave up a 64 TD pass, but that's one play....

one thing that was evident again last night, in the second half TD drive, he was setting his feet and making the throws...they were on target and had zip....then he was ugly footwork again for a lot of the other throws....
The giants have one of the best group of d-backs in the NFL.
