Johnny Unitas was 37? Didn't he play during the time of the pigskin helmets?

Or maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.
Must be someone else. I don't think that's leather.

Yeah I got the info off a site that was wrong or wasn't talking about since the beginning I guess I saw it like a month ago can't find it now. But in the last 30 years there's only been 5.
That 5 has more to do with free agency than some magical cutoff age being 30. With free agency, teams can't afford to keep QBs around for long time and develop them. Typically, QBs will need to show something before their rookie contract is up.

With advancements in sports medicine, if a player takes care of their bodies and are free of many major injuries, I think the QBs can be productive and play well into their late 30s now. As my list shows, even in the 60s when sports medicine wasn't as advanced, you had guys playing well into mid 30s and winning championships.

All that being said, Dak is never going to win a championship. Unless it's as a backup. Pretty obvious to anyone that's not a blind homer.

Not only the age factor but also, in the last 30 years almost every Super Bowl-winning QB was a starter for their team for 5 seasons or less when they won their first championship. I believe John Elway and Peyton Manning were the only long-time starting QBs to finally break through after more than 5 seasons. And it will happen again this time, with either Mahomes (already won in year 2 as a starter), or Burrow/Hurts (year 3), or Purdy (year 1).

We are way past that 5-year window with Dak already...it's over folks, he's not going to come through at this point. Time to start preparing for the Post-Dak Era so we can start the clock for a new QB.

Fake News. There are more than 5.

Bart Star 33
Len Dawson 35
Johnny Unitas 37
Ken Stabler 32
*Roger Staubach 29 11month
Jim Plunkett 33
Joe Theismann 32
Phil Simms 31
Doug Williams 32

etc...

I'm sure there are more
Peyton Manning 30 years old for his first win.

Dak is certainly no Peyton Manning or John Elway, he's better than Brad Johnson. Not better than Steve Young and it may be debatable some would say he is better but I would take Matthew Stafford over Dak. Those are all the QBs that have won their first championship after hitting 30 since 1993 (not since the beginning but in the last 30 years)

Off the top of my head…

John Elway
Possibly Nick Foles
Brad Johnson
Drew Brees?
Matt Stafford
Of those 5, I believe at least 3 of them had a great defense to help them out. Point being they couldn't do it on their own. Foles, Johnson, and Stafford were the qbs I was thinking.
