Dak will sign for more, but will it be enough more to make up for the money he could have made in 2019?
Not sure exactly what offer the Cowboys had on the table regarding a new contract in 2019, but Spotrac shows Dak had about a $2M base in 2019.
Did the Cowboys have $30M on the table for 2019? If so, Dak left $28M on that table.
His future contract will have to be significantly higher to make up for that lost money. A four year deal would have to be $7M higher per year just to break even, ignoring the time value of money. A 5 year deal would have to be $5.6M/yr. higher, and a 6 year deal $4.7M/yr. higher.
Is Dak's agent demanding a number that will financially justify the decision to leave all that money on the table in 2019?
The Cowboys might have made a mistake by not signing, but Dak may have also.
