Does anyone besides me think Dak's superb preseason play is causing the Eagles to speed up Wentz' development? I do.

I also think it is unwise of Philly to start Wentz after very little preseason play and potentially still being slightly injured. Philly might really be making a big mistake and throwing Wentz to the wolves.

Nope. You don't spend that high of a draft pick to watch them on the bench. Once Bradford was removed from the team, they had no other option. You don't sit the #2 pick for Daniels. It would have been the same here. No one would have expected him to start over Tony but once Tony is down, you don't sit Wentz for Moore or Showers. Ready or not.

I think it's unwise to start Wentz without the preseason prep. I can't see how Dak starting has anything to do with it, though. Dan's just an injury replacement anyway.

I liked Daniel over Bradford fro them, anyway. It surprised me when they went with Wentz.

I think it is a mistake to throw a sore/somewhat injured Wentz to the wolves. I think Dak's performance leads them to believe if Dak can do it then Wentz certainly should be able to as well.

Not sure Dak has anything to do with it, but I do think starting Wentz is a bad decision for Philly. He played what, one whole series in the entire preseason?

He's going to look awful, I think. Either way I hope the decision contributes to him being a bust in the long run.

I think it might have helped their decision. The big factor of course was the ability to get a first for crazy eyes Bradford.

However, I think Dak's progress might have helped them to decide to go in that direction.

The Cowboys on the field performance has been irrelevant for 20 years. I don't believe any team makes roster and starting lineup decisions with the Cowboys in mind.

Pretty much nothing to do with Dak. Pretty much everything to do with Teddy Bridgewater out for the year and the Vikings offering up an insane trade package for Bradford.

Rookie QBs having good preseasons (and even better regular seasons) has been happening for at least the last 10 years. Dak's preseason performance hasn't been some sort of new development among rookie QBs that's making other teams rethink their decisions on starting/sitting young quarterbacks.

I think there could be some jealousy involved. Our rookie QB blew up the preseason and looks like the real deal. And we got him for just a 4th rounder. Their much highly publicized QB played one series and broke 2 ribs (against vanilla preseason defenses). I doubt they are starting him because of Dak but I'm sure they saw what Dak did in the preseason and did a little teeth grinding.

I don't think this is a wise move for the Eagles considering he didn't play much in the preseason and when he played he got hurt. I'd let the vet play for a while and bring him along slowly like they did with McNabb. Pederson played most of the year and then they brought in McNabb the final 4 or 5 games. But someone else just said it and I agree, this may lead to him getting his confidence rocked and becoming a bust.

I think the big mistake is putting a rookie behind that OL.

I immediately thought of Dak's success when I heard the announcement of Wentz being named starter. And yes I do think Daks play influenced their decision.

BTW...

Is anyone else as confused as I am over the world's love of Sam Bradford? He's been barely average over his career. Shaun Hill has better numbers across the board...

Career Stats
Sam Bradford -- Comp%: 60.1 -- TD/INT: 78/52 -- Rating: 81
Shaun Hill -- Comp%: 62.0 -- TD/INT: 49/30 -- Rating: 85.2

I don't think it has anything to do with Dak.

They spent a fair bit to get Wentz, and there was all that drama with Bradford. Regardless of if Wentz is the guy or not, they spent enough on him to where they have to play him.

To get a 1st for a guy you were probably going to cut, AT BEST, the next season is a win.

The trade of Bradford has caused the Eagles to have to go with Wentz. With everything Philly gave to trade up for him they have to go with him now that Bradford is gone. No way can they go with Chase Daniel and have Wentz sit. That would be sending a bad message to their fan base that Wentz has been a disappointment.

I live in the philly market and based on the talk and some of my eagles friends feelings, they seem to believe the Eagles finally realized that regardless of Bradford or Wentz this isn't a year to contend. But with philly fans they need to keep them happy and buying tickets ect. Watching a bad team with a QB (Bradford) who doesn't want to be there and having the fans chant Wentz non stop wouldn't be a great scenario.

Of course getting a 1st for Bradford itself is great and too hard to pass up.
I don't think Dak is what Wentz is starting. But I sure hope Dak outperforms him.

The Vikes have two 2nd round pics, and 3 3rds, so the trade wasn't really that bad considering that they were this close to beating the Hawks on the way to the title game.
