Any post June 1 money cant be used till after June 1 which is well after free agency and the draft. No impact free agents will be available by then. Thats what I meant when I said all you would be doing in going for scraps and paying your draft class. On top of that Terrence Steele likely won’t be ready to start the season so cutting Tyron doesn’t seem like a good move to me. I was mistaken about Kearse though. You are totally wrong. The moves I mentioned free up $33M (We are like $7M over now). If that isn't enough for you there are other contracts we could look at before Dak's as well. Free agent contracts are backloaded so the year one cap hit (which would be this year) is always much lower than the average annual value. Lastly Kearse isn't even a free agent.
Some of these folks see what they want to see. When the train wreck continues they'll be dumbfounded.Players were getting open against the 49ers. Dak chose to focus mainly on Lamb and Schultz though. How is adding a couple of players going to make Dak better if he won't read the field? I do agree about the play calling though.
But you do Martin immediately and structure everything you do this offseason knowing that you are going to do release one or both of those guys. Also, any extending of your own guys (Diggs for example) and the payment of a SB takes place after that. Tyron is set up so that he could easily even be a pre-6/1 cut. You still save just under $10M and then you have no dead money related to him next year. So just Tyron and Martin would give you close to $20M more in cap relief. Knowing you have this space also allows you to restructure anyone else you want (Tank, Gallup, Armstrong) because you know that you have a huge rollover to cover the other cap $'s you push back. The key is cutting guys. Restructures only help with the timing of the cap hit. Cuts are what save you cap $'s because you never pay out those non-guaranteed salaries. The team needs to stop hanging onto their guys when their cap hit exceeds their play (we did start this last year so hopefully we continue).Any post June 1 money cant be used till after June 1 which is well after free agency and the draft. That's possible. I was just saying the team would have to be able to absorb any signings in free agency without factoring in the post-June 1 savings and the moves you outlined originally would have had the team at only $2 million under the cap going into free agency. You can save $10 million cutting Tyron outright but then you need a starting tackle and swing tackle cause Steele probably won't be ready to start the season. On the other hand, based on recent history Tyron might not be ready to start the season either. But you do Martin immediately and structure everything you do this offseason knowing that you are going to do release one or both of those guys.
