Dak's pick 6

The last two games, Dak has really shown more of what you saw at Mississippi State. Much more of the short stuff, less attacking down field and more inaccuracy. A lot of teams were fooled on Dak because this is what you saw much more off while in college. Last year, he didn't look like the same guy. This year, he has looked more like that old Dak. I wonder if he hasn't put as much work into his footwork this offseason?

We've already seen that Dak can be special. Looks to me like all he needs is more experience and maybe more work in the film room and on his mechanics. He's not a bad kid. He'll be fine.

He obviously wasn't shaving points. I was implying I've never seen a pass so slow and targeted so directly at a corner in a 1on1 situation that one would almost think it was intended for the corner if a professional QB threw that pass.
But you were implying that he threw the pick on purpose, which makes even less sense. At least throwing one to shave points would have had a purpose (as nefarious as it may have been). Outside of that, there is absolutely no reason he would have thrown that pass with the intention of having it picked. It was simply a crappy decision/throw in garbage time. Nothing more, nothing less.

A lot of attention is being placed on the point shaving comment when it was only said to emphasize how intentional that interception looked. That one video posted doesn't even do it justice. The game footage shows an actual pass to Talib.
To imply that the pick was intentional makes the least sense of all.

You think someone set to sign a 9 figure salary in a few years wouldn't risk a lifetime ban to make some sweet easy cash right now by point shaving? Lol
The people that come out of the woodworks after a loss always fascinate me
Yep, and they're out in full force today!

I made multiple comments to myself yesterday about this. He's been college Dak so far this year.

Wildly inaccurate and being indecisive on downfield throws.

It's somewhat worrisome because he rarely looked like that last season.

One of the big differences, thus far, is that Dak has been given much more freedom to audible and change plays. Last year, I feel like the Offense was much more scripted and what that does for you is that it allows you to practice certain throws and certain plays much more effectively. A lot of reps and maybe that accounts for why he was always so accurate last year. I mean, I'm sure there is much more too it but that could be part of it. This year, he might be focusing more on understanding options and trying to figure out where to go with the ball. Less time on actual reps and mechanics, more on trying to understand where he can go with the ball. I don't know, just a thought.

if it wasn't already a blowout it would have looked like he was point shaving. If anybody has a clip of it, that pass was not intended for a Cowboy

We were favored by 2.5 points, I can't see any scenrio where the spread would have come into play here.

Really good point. Might be giving Dak too much freedom to read and dictate how the offense should be ran.

I'll admit, it's impressive to see Dak changing protections, audibling out of plays, and generally "running the offense", but he might not be ready for the keys to the car quite yet. I wonder if the coaches will recognize it and give him more scripted plays.

Heck, it took Romo quite a while to have a complete grasp of offense concepts. Probably premature to expect Dak to be there already.

You want to see something ugly?

But, the broad jump. The man can freaking broad jump!

It took all of one season for them to realize he couldn't play CB, and from the looks of it, he's equally inept at playing safety.

For the love of Pete, why can't this team find/develop NFL quality safeties???

I dont know why this scrub isnt a bigger discussion on this board.

Our starting FS, 1st round draft pick, clearly takes a detour and engages Thomas to avoid having to make a tackle. Demaryius didnt even want to block him. Mike Jenkins never lived down a whiff against the Giants as a rookie, yet unlike this sissy Byron, he actually had a few really productive seasons here and made some game changing plays.
I noticed it even before they showed the replay. I was like what is Byron doing?

Honestly, I think you can do both. I mean, the 49ers scripted the first 10 or 20 plays a game and a lot of the league still does that. I don't see why we couldn't do the same kind of things. Dak is the guy so the team is clearly not going to sit him and let him learn. I mean, we are kinda locked into letting him have some freedom. He's got to be able to do these kinds of things if we want to beat the better teams in the league. It is what it is, we just gotta be patient with it because it happens to everybody.

The one thing, however, that I think the coaching staff does need to heed is the mechanics. That needs to be recognized and addressed. That's about reps and coaching. That should be a constant in our practices. That needs to be a muscle memory kinda thing. JMO

Weird engagement of 88 initally, but 88 also grabbed him when he did try to get back to make the play. This shows more than ever to me that Byron has no instincts.

...!...?...! That's absurd!

Illogical!

why is this a ban worthy post? Look at the pass, I've never seen something thrown with such little velocity on that route directly to the corner.

Go search Super Bowl 30. Neil O' Donnell can explain.

Oh my eyes.. there are no beer goggles thick enough to unsee that...

What a bust.. I've tried to defend him but he is afraid of contact and so weak at the ball.. absolute liability.

Saw this in game and posted immediately. What a complete act of cowardice. I could not believe my eyes. This is a cuttable offense IMO. He should face a club suspension of 1 game and lose his starting job.

That looks like a bad read more than a bad pass. Dez is probably running an option route where he can cut inside or outside based on where the CB is. Dez made the correct cut based on where the CB was but the pass was thrown to the wrong side.
