Daks the only reason the Cowboys had a chance

Pretty true.

It's the hero paradox.

But didn't finish the game out when he had a chance to.

And also on the flip side, the defense has to stop one of these QBs at some point. That's what's also killed Cowboys fans expectations. We EXPECT the other franchise QB to take the win away because they often do. But those QBs often take the win against us, because our defense has been un-clutch since 1995.

Agree.....so apparently Schotty hasn't elevated from OC and doesn't give a #$#$ about the D (all on Christian Parker)..............and that's a problem. Now the play-calling is in question, please tell me this isn't Clapper 2.0.
Plenty of head coaches like this throughout the league. The problem for a lot of front offices is the understanding that having a good head coach means they have their hands on both units to an extent.

There should be a hefty amount of delegating, but still. Shoddy has to be able to recognize what will or will not work on the field and make big decisions. He has never had this job before now and he really has not been the offensive coordinator that many times. How much time did he spend understanding and appreciating what makes a good defense? Yes, this could be Garrett part two-but I’m starting to think it could be worse.

Defense made a goal line stand against Henry. They gave up only FG on short fields. They did enough to win. I thought CD was going to have to play CB at some point. Dak played great until he didnt. And lost the game. Overpaid choke artist.
You have been gaslit my friend. Making a few plays a game is not doing their job. The fact that you can try to make a case they played well enough to win while giving up 34 points shows how much you have accepted terrible defensive play.

Respect the analysis.......but.........to be frank.....it almost sounds like an excuse for our HC. If we're going to be on Dak on a regular basis and sometimes simply because of salary.......Schotty gets no mercy from me about yesterday and trending bad moments. Schotty panicked, IMHO. It's umcomprehensible.

All I know is at the end of the game Dallas had their strongest unit on the field with a chance to win the game outright. You want your QB to step up there and take the game over. Whether or not he completes that pass at the end is irrelevant. You want your QB to have enough confidence to make the throw and live or die by the result, not sail it away and play for the safety of OT. A QB that wanted to win that game would have seized the moment, even if it meant giving the HC the middle finger and going and taking the game.
Also, what kind of consequences would Dak face for ignoring Schotty? Is Jerry gonna go to the locker room and yell at him? Would Schotty bench him for a series? Please. Schotty is toothless, and if he weren't, he wouldn't be here.

Definitely a case of multiple things can be true. I don't disagree that Dak did enough to give Dallas a chance to win. That's not really how it works in football though.

The game often comes down to a few opportunities. Cash in, you win. Spit the bit, you lose. Failing to score with goal to go on the first drive could be pointed at as a huge missed opportunity. BS took most of the blame in the game thread for his play calling. He deserves it. However, Dak threw the ball on two of the three plays. He deserves blame for not getting it done. Had he thrown a TD he would have been celebrated and not one bit of praise would have been directed towards BS for the play call.

Fast forward to the end. A TD in another goal to goal situation seals the win. At that point nothing that happened before matters. It doesn't matter how we got into the position to win. All that matters is executing and winning the game in that moment.

Plenty of blame to go around how the entire game played out. Failure to win the game when the opportunity was in your hands falls on the hands that specific opportunity was in.

Saying Dak "did enough to win" is just not true. If he did, they would have won. Capitalizing on those opportunities is literally why he makes the big bucks.

He failed as much as anyone else did.

No, lots of blame for him. I mean he should never be in this position because a true front office does not hire him. That simple.

He got hired because McCarthy said no to a humiliating offer/contract-and none of the high end assistants want this job very much (the ones concerned with a true winning legacy).

Ladies and Gentlemen......I present Clapper 2.0. Is that what's going on now?

Did enough lol. Giving up 34 points is not enough my guy. Our team relies to much on our offense having to score 30+ points a game just to win a game. That is not sustainable. Heck we scored 31 points and still lost. What the offense has to score 40+ points to win the game?

Yes the offense had opportunities to have put up more points
  • Passing twice at the 1 yard line in the first half and ended up with 3 points instead of 7 when we were running the ball very very good
  • Blocked Aubrey FG (Steele smh)
  • At the end of the game we get down to the 2 yard line and get pass happy again to save clock but then Schoonmaker jumps offsides and we go backwards.
Even with all of that the offense scored 31 freaking points. The defense made a few stops but they defense also gave up 34 points including that long bomb at the last second that allowed a go ahead FG.

....We had game won.

The little things killed it for us

Dak and defense did their job, but couldn't cash in.

So what would have been preferable?

Try to fit a tight window pass and perhaps watch a pick six go the other way? Or protect the ball and go for OT?

For those who are mounting the usual Dak stinks platform, just how certain are you he didn't toss it away on purpose? Because Dak is accurate enough to risk a pick on that play.

Should they have tried to run the ball? Hell, yes. But should they have risk everything on one pass that was not a sure thing?

Maybe what should be the gripe here is the defense touching the receiver of the Ravens before the clock expired.

Dak choked. The end. Yea he's better than Aikman. He had a chance to be the hero but he panicked. Don't care what Schotty told him. He has to make that play. Yea there are many other reasons the Cowboys loss but Dak had the ball in his hands with the game on the line. Elite qbs make that throw.

Read his lips after that play....then report back
