1992 playoffs...4:22 left in the game. Norv Turner calls a slant play (Ace Right 896 F Flat) Alvin Harper makes the catch and goes 70 yards to ice the game.

Exactly who on this team has the guts and killer instinct to make that kind of call...and the killer instinct to execute the play on offense?

And that killer instinct is also lacking on defense and special teams.

I have no interest in breaking down individual plays in this game in search of a reason for why we lost.

This loss, just like the playoff game vs the Giants last year, was not about a single play or even a few plays...because it is my strong opinion that even IF Romo didn't throw that INT for a Steeler TD, we would have come up with a different way to lose. Losers do that.

There is something very wrong with his team during crunch time...and it has been that way dating back to when Parcells was here.

Even Madden was so impressed, he said how we were running "Championship Drives".

Frankly-it's been the same 'ole movie every year. One minute it looks like we're peaking at the right time, only for TSHTF when all is said and done.

That's what I felt was missing tonight. On that 3rd and 5 play after we'd stopped them at the goal line, I felt that Garrett should have passed the ball, on something like a quick slant, and get the first down (hopefully) rather than giving it to Choice on a run just to watch him get stuffed for no gain.

The kid played his heart out tonight but that was a piss poor call in that situation to put him in.

Bad example.

Because the first week of december in 92, the cowboys lost to washington. It was their last loss of the year. The loss kept washington, the defending champs in the hunt.

We lost in this manner.

we had the ball with the opportunity to go win the game, aikman hit irvin on a skinny post and irvin fumbled with washington recovering.

The defense then made a 4 play goalline stand, stopping rypien and the skins from the 1 on 4th down.

Aikman tried to throw out of the endzone, fumbled, emmit tried to pick it up and run with it and fumlbed, the skins recovered for a td and won the game.

so bad example. Cause that game was like this one.

I think emotionally this team took a hit today and why the offense couldnt get aligned right constantly, especially the wr after 10 days to prepare for a game is beyond me.

However, if we can get these next two home games we will be in good shape heading to philly.

Inside our own 20?

Do you guys understand what the conditions were like?

Did you see how Romo was throwing the ball?

The Cowboys did the right thing at the time. Run the ball, hope for a first down, but punt and rely on our defense, which was playing pretty good most of the game.

Agree something is VERY wrong, and we woulda found a way to lose...but i think BP was imparting a good physical accountable mentality...that is gone now. So now we are wrong, soft, and *****y, and the inmates run the asylum...disaster...

Same deal on the fourth down hand off to the FB. Geez, jumbo formation and run up the middle. What the hell?

Do something different...go three wide, spread them out...do SOMETHING different even IF you're gonna run the ball up the middle.

Nothing and I do mean NOTHING makes me more nutz than teams going jumbo, leaving no running lanes, on short yardage. Stupid stupid stupid.

Agreed. Look at the Dolphins. Half the talent we have but they're starting to play well down the stretch.

I know Parcells isn't coaching but Saprano (spelling) is a Parcells clone. Maybe Parcells' problem wasn't his system, but that he was too old a coach.

It seems like his system works. I mean, look at what they're doing with noodle-arm Chad Pennington. They're winning with a running game and a strong defense.

I'm not talking about a single play..I'm talking about the mindset and the guts to go for the kill.

We don't have it. Not on the coaching staff...not on the field.

If witten held his block you wouldnt be complaining.

If owens ran with the power of a man his size and layed it on the line for the team he would have got the first down on the third down play. He goes down as easy as shaun alexander.

there was absolutely nothing wrong with the call, just the execution. That play is on witten and it was a neccessary play because owens doesnt fight for yards.

I personally felt Romo should have scrambled up the middle more. There were quite a few plays where if he had simply run for the first down, he may have made it.

On the 3 and 10 play during the last series, he had an opportunity to scramble up the middle. But he chose to throw a deep incompletion to T.O.

Oh, well.

From what I understood-Aikman actually was moving his arm forward, and the officials blew the call-but they didn't have instant replay at the time to review it.

Umm...Parcells really didn't do much here either, and the players had just as soft a mentality then like now.

Maybe the Fins players are much tougher mentality?

It was the same with Parcells. We were better than Seattle and lost in his last game. The thing that bugged me about that game wasn't only Romo's botched snap...but that we had them on their own one yard line and a defensive stop would have given us another shot. First play, Alexander breaks a HUGE run from out of his own end zone. game over.

And don't forget, the Seahawks had Mo Larry and Curly in their secondary that game, and we never went after them.

Zero killer instinct.

I recall Aikman saying something about how they were going to run a trick play during Barry Switzer's years...the play was a direct snap to the running back...and Aikman said to Switzer, if you run that play, you can snap the ball to the running back for the rest of the season cuz you can forget about me playing.

Same deal with Staubach having the guts to change Landry's plays...and EXECUTE.

This team doesn't have those kinda balls.
