14 of the top 15 offenses made the playoffs

only 8 of the top 15 defenses made it
It's a new age of football. The whole "you need a good defense to win" isn't as accurate. You don't need a great defense. KC's defense was hardly great. You just need your defense to make timely plays and stops. Points and yards will be had in today's game. It's a matter of not giving them up in bunches. KC got that fumble scoop and score to change the Super Bowl's trajectory. And made a few more plays here and there.

If our defense can find a happy medium between getting 5 turnovers and scoring a lot on their own and absolutely getting gashed like they have against Seattle and SF, I think we are in good shape come playoff time.

Defense still worries me, though. They aren't hard to run on. This can allow teams to wear us down and control the clock. Limiting possessions for our offense.

If Miami gets 28 tonight, they'll beat Dallas by 1.

Still 509 total points in 17 games = 29.94 ppg. Almost 30.

Also +194 differential beats SF by 1. This includes blowout losses to SF, Buffalo, and that horrible loss in AZ.

These stats tell me 2 things:

(1) when Dallas plays well, they usually win big.

(2) A hair under 30 ppg? Sorry folks, can't blame the offense this year.
but can they win when the defense doesn't play "lights out"? :muttley:

If Miami scores 10 points the Dallas defense will finish 4th in points against. Can't blame the defense.

I guess this explains 12-5 and second best record in the NFL. The Cowboys as a whole played pretty dang good this year...not perfect but good enough.

I still we were lucky washington players couldnt execute early on. They tricked our defense a couple times just couldnt execute.

The good teams will.

10 against San Fran

3 against Buffalo (I don't count CeeDee's garbage late run)

20 against Miami

20 against Detroit

The good teams defend us just fine.
