An article on Kyle Wilber:

So is it Kyle Wilbur, or Kyle Wilber? Perhaps Willber? Wilburrer? Can you use it in a sentence? Part of speech, please?

Half the meth-heads in Philly can spell Heisenberg, but some of the most staunch Cowboys faithful aren’t yet familiar enough with this 3-year vet to spell his surname with certainty.

Such is common in Football Purgatory, where Wilber found himself most of last year’s disastrous defensive campaign. Often hurt and seldom noticed, he was a sizable hole in an ongoing Swiss-cheese defensive horror show that we watched through our fingers in the fetal position.

Would love to see it,,, actually, every single player on defense needs to either "emerge".or regain their former glory. None of them operated on a high level last year that I can recall. Expectations were high for Claiborn and Carter and seeing them become star players would make my year!

Maybe or maybe not on Wilber. If Holloman is not needed at MLB, then I think he is likely to win the SLB job over Wilber or they both get some snaps there with Holloman likely being one of the Nickel LBs.

If Holloman is needed at MLB, then Wilber will be a key player.

He played nearly half the snaps on D last season and didn't see him have an impact. Is that the most we should/could expect as a rusher but now they are trying him as SOLB full time. Another mid rounder without a place on team or the talent to contribute.

I don't have a whole lot of hope for the guy as a starter, just haven't seen him do anything that would indicate that he has "it".

I'm not sure which one Dallas likes better at the SLB spot. But we certainly need one of them to step forward and be a solid starter, along with Carter finding his form and someone being able to at least hold down the middle spot for a year.

Wilber really stood out to me at linebacker. It seemed like he was living in their backfield making tackles for a loss or no gain. And that was after spending all his time up to that point learning and playing RDE. I would actually be surprised if he wasn't a quality starter for us this year.

Let's see how he does this year, can't come in and take it by storm, very few players do.
His 1st year he was injured, was it a torn ligamnet in his thumb? Then going from DE to LB to DE to LB. That is not easy. So give him a full off season and TC at LB'er first.

Would have you said the same thing about Ken Norton Jr. His first year, broken thumb or torn ligament too. I can't remember. 2nd year, I believe he struggles a bit but shown some good signs. Well we know what happened from there. I think there were some rumors at one point Juimmy was thinking of trading him, or possibly release him when he seemed to struggle.

Not saying he will be a Ken Norton Jr. But give the guy a little room here to see what happens.

Oh, I'm absolutely willing to give him a chance, but as it stands, I'm not going to get too excited about the guy until he shows me something.

True,
Actually applies to entire defense, since it's basically new.
But I believe they will be better than last year, if all stay healthy. just consistency alone will make them better.

The list of the unquestionable is a far shorter list than the questionable. In fact, I said in a previous thread Scandrick and Church are the only guy's I feel confident about in terms of knowing what we are getting. Don't get me wrong; Wilber showing up would be awesome; but for the Cowboys to improve on last year, we are going to need alot more guy's to be solid to great, particularly on that Defensive Line.

The defensive line is obviously the key to everything because I don't think the secondary is bad at all. I think the lack of a pass rush, as well as the continuous stream of off-the-street players last yar, was the root of all defensive evils of last season.

However, especially with Lee gone, Carter and Wilber need to step up and be better than just solid. Wilber showed flashes, and they need more of that.

The Cowboys don't need him to be spectacular; just solid. At least that is what I get from the article based on the writer's Dixon/Hegman reference.

My point was though, we need that across the board on the defensive side; and since the Cowboys are planning on sending players in waves on the dl, we need some solid 2nd's, as well.

The good Lord willing, those defensive linemen this year will be of far better pedigree and far fewer numbers.

I would like to see Carter as the impact player; Durant as a solid, above average player; and, I would be happy with Wilber as the consistent player. If Durant (or whoever plays Mike) and Wilber play above those expectations I will be ecstatic!
