the results at least on defense are less than mediocre:
2012: Claiborne, Crawford, Wilber, Johnson
2013: Wilcox, Webb, Holloman
2014: Lawrence, Hitchens Gardner, Smith, Dixon, Bishop, Mitchell,
Not one impact player in that bunch. Not one of the LB's runs a sub 4.6, not one of the DL's runs a sub 4.7 and not one of the db's runs a sub 4.5
Better than a historic fiasco can still be bad. I agree that those street pickups were terrible, but Selvie and Hayden eventhough they started need to be replaced. Ben Bass is still Ben Bass. Crawford is still a tweener in the 4-3. Lawrence is still and undersised DE with 4.8 speed.
Forty speed is the determining factor for success in the NFL in your opinion?
Lee ran a 4.71 and 4.6 forty. A sub 4.6 is hardly a requirement for a LB.
Holloman and Wilber are competing for SLB. The starting SLB in the Super Bowl (KJ Wright) had a slower forty time than both Holloman and Wilber.
Lawrence has been compared in style to Terrell Suggs who ran a 4.84 forty. Lawrence ran a 4.69.
Will Smith ran a 4.59 forty.
Webb 4.43
Claiborne 4.43
Dixon 4.48
Seattle had Michael Bennett (4.86) and Red Bryant (4.90) at SDE in the Super Bowl. Gardner (4.83) is projected to SDE.
Crawford ran a 4.78 which is good for either SDE or DT.
Matt Johnson and Wilcox ran 4.52 and 4.51 respectively. That's faster than 2012 1st round Safety Barron (4.54) and 2013 first round Safety Vaccaro (4.59).
