Almost any comprehensive passing stat yields a very high correlation to winning. Personally, I use an ANYPA formula that includes net passing yards, interceptions, attempts and sacks -- (net passing yards - (50 * INT) / (attempts + sacks). Other people use Pro Football Reference's ANYPA stat or simple YPA or NYA or passer rating or QBR. Pick one -- the team that is better at it during a game almost always wins that game.

So far this season, the teams that pass more effectively are 31-1 -- with the only loss being the Ravens losing to the Raiders on a TD pass with 26 seconds left.
I think that's bull though Adam. You and I both know Tom Brady and Russell Wilson passed EFECETIVELY to a SB in two different manners. One with an obvious spread, QB shoulder the load game plan and the other with a smash mouth first style that the passing game fed off with play action.

Big Ben has won 2 rings passing effectively with 2 different emphasises.

Dallas coach Jason Garrett says run-first mentality will remain

IRVING, Texas -- Coach Jason Garrett insists the Dallas Cowboys' commitment to running the ball hasn’t changed, despite Tony Romo's 45 passes in Week 1.

He points to Joseph Randle's 16 carries -- none in the fourth quarter -- and the inordinate amount of time the Cowboys spent in their two-minute offense as evidence the Cowboys’ philosophical approach hasn’t changed.

Good, because Romo throwing the ball more than 40 times is typically a losing number. The Cowboys are 11-17, when he throws more than 40 passes in a game, and 21-32 when he throws more than 35 passes in a game.

The Cowboys won 12 games last season and the NFC East title because of their run-first identity. They were a physical team that systematically wore down their opponents...

I call BS! We had a 1st and goal at the half yard line and ran once! Should have ran 3 times!

What does that have to do with anything I said?

If you pass more effectively than your opponent, you'll almost always win. It's that way for Brady, Wilson, Roethlisberger, Romo and any other quarterback in the NFL. It doesn't matter what scheme you use or how often you pass or how often you run or how well you run or how well you stop the run. Just pass more effectively, however you do it.

maybe because when you're ahead you run more and when you're behind you pass more....stupid stats.

Nice back down. Go home now. Good boy.

You still OK with Romo throwing (not anytime soon) all of those times huh? Got us the same results as 2010-13? I bet you're rooting for 8-8 now without Romo so the run game can prove you wrong again lol. Come from under your rock, its OK!

Is this English? I don't know what you are babbling about here. The season is 2 games old. You're too much of a coward to make any kind of prediction for the season, so stop embarrassing yourself with your gibberish.

If things continue the way they are, I wonder how Jones is going to reconcile for himself p'offing Callahan for Garrett...

The Redskibs got one rookie and a second year player they shifted to right guard and have the number #1 ranked running offense right now and they ran against the Dolphins and the Rams. And they have Cousins at QB and no Dez at WR.
