'Lastly I don't believe a season’s success is strictly measured by winning the SB but playing to or above the expectations heading into a season'.

If you really believe that, why won't you acknowledge that that is precisely what we did in 2003 and with far less talent overall and a much less experienced qb, who didn't have good RB's or Keyshawn or a pass-rush or a good secondary and was forced to carry the team virtually by himself against 8 elite defensive teams. You think that players can improve, well, you didn't want our 2003 starting qb to be given a chance to improve in 2004.
Funny how that non-good secondary and non-existant pass rush still managed to be part of the statistically best defense in the NFL that year.

Carried the team virtually by himself. ha ha ha!!

Hmm.... you know, I've never seen theblackbear and J.P. Losman's Mom at the same time.... Coincidence? I think not.

Now that's really low.

No, the Bills don't have a QB at all.

If, if, if... the facts are the Cowboys are 6-3 and one of the best teams in the NFC, picked by many to be a surprise SB contender.

And it doesn't matter how good the AFC is, the Bills got beat by New Orleans.

They didn't have one last year either, that's why Bledsoe is here, but at least the Bills backups are better than ours, and who knows, maybe Losman will get better with experience, unlike Bledsoe who's career has gotten worse with time.

Do I need to slap the hurt on your BS again?

Stop fabricating.

It did not happen.

It is not true.

Nobody is buying it.

C'mon Katr. You can't really believe that can you? To assume he isn't a good QB because Tom Donohoe and Mike Mularkey don't think he's one... that's giving those guys way too much credit.

The Bills won something like 7-of-9 games down the stretch last year and barely missed the playoffs. What was Bledsoe's rating in those games? Lee Evans looked liked a stud with Bledsoe. What does he look like now? Most of the media up here is resigned to the fact that Donohoe is an idiot and the Bills made a bad call by letting Bledsoe walk. Even Jerry Sullivan, I think, who's a Bledsoe hater from way back.

Can someone tell me why we should care whether the Bills backups are better than ours?

Are we playing the Bills this year or something? I think it'll be next year before that matchup crosses our path..

That secondary was pick apart by let's see, Jay Fiedler, and on a day when our offense scored 21 points and we had no running game and Carter threw for 288 yards against Sam Madison,Patrick Surtain along with Zack Thomas, Ogunleye and Jason Taylor tearing past our OL and pushing them into Carter. If we had a played any defense at all we could have won that game.

How about the first Giants game, we scored 35 points against a team that made the playoffs, the year before. Collins torched our secondary after we got way ahead, yet he only completed 52% of his passes. Yet Carter had over 300 yards against a playoff team from the year before on their field.

Plus, our defense played against teams that had backup qb's starting. But I have to admit, they played real well against the Bills that year with their starting 'franchise qb'. Go ahead, bring it on lady, is that all you got. I know that Dbair and Dooms101 don't have much.

What I've got is common sense and the absence of an agenda, something decidely lacking in anyone who would even imagine that Carter 'carried' the 2003 team.

Regardless of who thinks the 03 defense was more about smoke and mirrors than substance, it certainly was the strength of the team that year.

You can point to the Miami game all you like, but don't forget to include the Sunday nighter in New England. That was just as typical a performance. Name me two comeback wins Q led that year when the D faltered, and I might be willing to revisit his contributions.

Like your earlier nonsense that Herm Edwards is about to be 'axed' - implying that his job would have been saved had he once again trusted an unreliable - the contention that Q "carried" anything but his dime bag and bong is hysterical.

The 03 offense was more about early season threat of a running game, Bill Parcellls meticulously developing/controlling Carter, and Richie Anderson's team MVP performance and babysitting of Q than about Carter's ability to 'carry' anything.

There is no sense wasting time 'bringing it on' when the thesis itself is flawed to lunacy level. The best 'argument' that Carter carried naught but his considerable personal baggage is the collective memory of this entire board.

Sorry to disappoint you and CBZ, but there is a limit to the depths of irrationality I will plunge on a sports board.

And that is 'debating' that Quincy carried anything but his wrist band "read half the field" playbook in 2003.

I'm pretty sure all the Cowboys fans would KILL to have one of the other 15 QBs who AREN'T leading the NFC in passer rating.

Rats.

I always love it when someone brings a flyswatter to a gunfight.

The Bills are in the better conference

The AFC has 71 wins, the NFC has 72 wins.

The Bills WERE in the better conference - last year, but this year they are in the AFC Least. The NFC East teams have a combined record of 21-15 (.583). The AFC East teams have a combined record of 14-22 (.389). THE AFC EAST IS 7 GAMES BEHIND THE NFC EAST. Scaled to division games, the Bills (2-1 in their division) get .26 points, and Dallas (3-1 in their division) gets .4375 points, meaning Dallas is 68% better in their own division.*

*(record in division * division record)

That's a good analogy for what Q brought to the gunfight..if anyone 'carried' that 03 team it was:

1. Mike Zimmer, whose blitz packages often masked the lack of a viable pass rush pretty well, 2. Darren Woodson, who glued the secondary, and 3. Richie Anderson, who was charged with teaching the O the ways of Bill Parcells, and holding Carter's hand from dawn to dusk.

But to say a developing quarterback whose head coach's main mission was to preach the avoidance of impulse throws, teach the reading of a partial field, and exhort the driving of the bus on first gear carried anything but his lunch is the height of absurdity.

You know I was fond of Quincy, ad this year when I see the QB he always most reminded me of, Jake Plummer, finally put it togther in Denver, I sometimes have a passing moment of regret that Bill didn't get the chance to mentor him more than a year. It's the wasted effort and energy of Bill Parcells that bothers me most tho, 18 months gone up in 'smoke' - not just the lack of appreciation on Carter's part.

Starting with our 2nd 5-11 season, I've pretty much seen all the Cowboys games. Before that, it was about 9 or so per season. Anyone who watched this team through the Gailey/Campo era is a real fan. Those were some tough years. Even though we got to the playoffs with Gailey, you could tell, the team needed to be rebuilt, too much hanging onto past glories.
