POtential to become a decent 3/slot corner is the primary objective,, give me a list of available Dbs that are better values or upside than what possibly a more mature Scandrick could bring.

Hes got two blue chippers leading the pack, and a lot of other athletic talent chomping at the bit to play now at Db, and now there are job openings worth fighting for... good camp battles at that position forthcoming.
Just saying that there is more upside to Scandrick, lets see if that can be extracted this season with solid peers of Carr and Clay.

of course, there can't be much rope to go around because with all of the negative comments in this forum, you would think people are using it to hang themselves

Post of the year right here!

I am not going to crown him as the next Primetime without seeing him take meaningful snaps but I do have high hopes for B.W. Webb this season.

I don't expect him to be an all pro his rookie year but i do expect him to major contributor in the secondary.

Fun fact... Scandrick had, by far, the lowest Passer rating against on the team, didn't surrender any touchdowns, and was overall a better cover guy than Carr.

He does one thing and he does one thing well... he plays the slot.

I'll never get the hate for Scandrick. NEVER. Maybe its the contract for the position he plays? I don't know but for the life of me I will never get the hate Scandrick got for only about 3 or 4 bad plays all year. Sure they came at a bad time but it shouldn't warrant hate.

That's right, for every potential positive post, there's always someone who has to throw some negativity into it

I get you and ah agree. A potential positive post (man, was that aliteration by design or coincidence?) should have clear sailing with NO NEGATIVITY thown in, just responses that say "agreed" and "man, when you are right, you are right." There should be a computer program that just deletes ANY NEGATIVITY and man, this would be a better world, I'm telling ya.
I half to go; Pollyanna is at the door, she want to play.

I don't get it either. I think the contract is excessive, but can't blame Scandrick for that.

It's not warranted. I think part of it comes from his personality, which has put off a couple of the local reporters and, I think, that's flowed over a bit to how he's covered by some. Other than that, he plays maybe the toughest position on defense, and is the one that gets identified often when third down plays are given up. It comes with the territory that some fans are just going to see his guy catching the converting pass and think it must have been Scandrick's fault whenever that happens.

Webb hasn't even participated in his first training camp practice and he's already a super star in the making? o_O I'm surprised that statement came from an article sounds more like something a FAN on this board would say. From the buzz around OTA's and mini camp Webb has shown some good potential but we're in June so it's a bit premature to say he's a super star in the making until he starts making some big time plays in actual games against quality NFL receivers.

I remember in 2009 when the Cowboys drafted CB Mike Mickens in the 7th round I was on another board at the time and some were real high on him. One FAN had Mickens in his sig saying future All Pro. Mickens didn't even make the team. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Webb is another Mike Mickens but he was a 4th round draft pick so let's not get carried away until we see how he performs in training camp and preseason. He has a long way to go so tap the brakes.

It's not warranted? Remember Steve Smith?

Also his attitude doesn't help him. He's the smuggest player I've ever seen in a Cowboys uniform.

I do remember Steve Smith. I think that's a big part of Scandrick's reputation problem. But there are more than two games in a standard NFL season.

The reason for a lot of the optimism is the guys measurables are off the chart. He had a combine best in 4 categories. I'm wondering if that has ever happened before. I think BJ, short shuttle, 60 shuttle, and VJ. He's faster than his 4.5 40 as well. You put that with his hips and backpedal and there is good reason to think you can get this guy used to the NFL game. Not very big though at 5-10 180 and shortish arms but big hands. He's supposed to able to return; guessing they mean PR.

every year at this time there seems to be a guy that "is all that and a bag of chips", then when the regular season rolls around he disappears. I get a feeling everyone has made such a big deal over this guy that he will never be able to live up to expectations.
I hope I'm wrong though :D

You're right about guys not living up to expectations. And then there's the guys who rise above them. There is no reason to not be optimistic about this guys possibilities. But as of right now that's all they are....possibilities.

exactly! Thats why I love this time of year...possibilities are endless. I feel like he will contribute this year and make the defense that much better.

In the Senior Bowl practices that I saw, JJ Wilcox looked better in coverage than Webb. They were practicing against the same WRs.

The more I read on Wilcox the better I like the pick.
