Bush is a good Receiver and we never use Felix as a Receiver;heck we dont even throw some screens his way,its a touchdown waiting to happen and yet Red genius neves call a screen play when felix is in he game.

I love Felix Jones, but he hasn't proven he can run inside or be anything more than what he was in college and so far in DAllas, a part-time back. Right now he's having trouble staying healthy touching the ball less than 10 times a game. They put Bush outside because he's such a good receiver that he has to be respected by the cb as a wr would...that's the passing game and has nothing to do with the running game. We haven't even gotten Felix involved catching the ball at all...right now, Choice has been the 3rd down back more than Felix.

Felix is perfect for what we wanted...as Garrett said, we already have a full time RB. I would love to see Jones do it all and become a superstar, but right now I just don't see how anyone can argue that he does anything Bush doesn't do. That's not a knock on him at all...but it's a stretch at this point to say Felix Jones is a better RB than Bush.

Reggie Bush is a one dimensional special package player. He's not a true RB nor a WR. Felix can run inside and outside. We don't know if he can tolerate a full load or not.

Right now he's not a fulltime RB but that doesn't mean he can't be one. I know what Garrett said but that doesn't define the player. You have your opinion. I have mine. I would not even think about trading Felix for Bush. It's not even close.

I love Felix, but until he proves he can be an every down back who can run between the tackles with power and hold up (something Bush cannot do), I'd trade Felix for a healthy Bush at his best any day of the week..

Have they given him a chance to prove that yet?

Because he has been awesome between the tackles in the limited carries he's gotten.

Felix is what everyone thought Reggie Bush would be—a tremendous running back who can make directional cuts without losing speed, with vision that allows him to set up his moves two and three blocks ahead, an uncanny ability to break multiple tackles, and the speed to break away from everyone on the field.

Gee, that sounds kinda like Tony Dorsett in his prime, doesn't it?? The ability to make cuts without losing speed?? Check... great vision that allows him to set up his moves?? Check... breakaway speed?? Check...

Felix has 2 career catches. So I don't buy the comparison.

We have a QB who would rather throw the ball down field into triple coverage then check down so don't expect him to start racking up receptions any time soon :bang2:

Boy some dump off passes to Felix would have been nice to see against the Giants. Hopefully we get to see the cat let out to play this week?

I brought this up awhile back, but didn't get much of a response.

I'd love to run this out of our 12 package.

Now granted, the Bears did a terrible job of covering that, but flare patterns and smoke routes would be nice with Felix's ability.

Hell, Barber made Philly pay for matching up 1 on 1 with a LB against Philly last year. Felix has the ability to house it from anywhere.

btw, for future reference, how do I embedd videoes?

I'd take Felix over Reggie as an all around back, but Reggie is a beast in the passing game. Or at least he was till he came down with all these knee injuries. I dislike Reggie with a passion too.

Then why does Marion Barber have 98 catches since 2007?

(*sigh* why do I even bother...)

For some reason I can't read this thread title without thinking of Dennis Green screaming it.

We should give Feliz 30 runs per a game!!1!

9(avg) × 30 = 270 yards per a game

Gotta say Wayne, I feel like you're overrating Bush in your analysis. And I say this not in a Felix-is-better kind of way, as I think they're remarkably different players other than that, yes, both are shifty running backs who probably aren't meant to tote the rock 25 times a game.

Bush is simply woeful as a running back IMO. He's averaging under 3 yards a carry this season if I'm not mistaken. His career average is well under 4 yards. He's highly fumble prone -- already has two fumbles in just two games. And while he's probably the best receiving tailback in the business, I feel he's somewhat overrated in this regard because so many of the passes are just dumpoffs that are, in essence, designed runs. I don't know that he's the route runner of, say, a Westbrook or Marshall Faulk.

And you point out that he was a force against us a few years ago. Well, let's be honest, plenty a player has a spectacular game or three, and our defense has been kind enough to provide such breakout games for guys over the years. Just ask Steve Smith and Mario Manningham.

Personally, I view Bush as nothing more than a gimmick player. Now, he's a gimmick player I would take on my team if he were released tomorrow. I do think he poses matchup problems. But I think he's gone from oh-my-god-future-Pro Bowler to a No. 3 running back/slot receiver option. Just my two cents.

Reggie Bush has caught a lot of passes, but for a fairly average 7.7 yards per catch. That's pretty standard good RB average reception yardage, not anything particularly exceptional. It does beat Jones's 4 receptions (?) though.

When called upon due to injury he hasn't really shouldered the load. Good punt returner. But he and Vince Young have made the Texans look like draft geniuses...

Probably the most overhyped RB = Reggie Bush

Wayne, I cannot believe that you think Felix can't run it up the gut. The guy can rush anywhere on the field. Inside and out. Bush is the one who struggles running through the gaps.

Heck, Felix's first ever rushing TD came off a run up the gut against Cleveland. No contest.

If you want flash and a reality show, go with your boy Reggie. Not me. Give me Felix all day, and then some.

Marion Barber: 7.5 yards per reception

Reggie Bush: 7.2 inches more per reception than MB3.

Marion Barber: 3 lost fumbles since 2005

Reggie Bush: 8 lost fumbles since 2006

As stated earlier in the thread, Bush's yards per carry average are atrocious. With his position in the draft, he's well past a Carpenteresque bust label.

As far as him toasting us, Sean Payton recognized that idiot Parcells' defensive schemes had NO contingency for containing running backs on wheel, flare, or smoke routes. It wasn't the Bush was great, it was that our HC was a bona fide overrated moron. Detroit toasted us the same way the next week IIRC.

I wouldn't trade Felix for Bush. Felix looks to be able to run inside and outside. And as far as putting him out wide like Bush.....well, they do that with Bush because he can't run inside. It's just another way to get him outside.

I raised hell when they drafted Felix over Mendenhall. I was sooooo wrong.

Kudos to you for admitting that. I always respect that. I too couldn't believe we passed on Mendenhall. I was ok with picking Jones if Mendenhall wasn't there. It certainly wasn't a reach, but when everyone is ranking Mendenhall the 2nd best back in the draft (a few even had him as the best) and we passed on him for a guy who was a complementary back in college, I was floored. It felt like the Steven Jackson thing all over again. I wanted Jenkins or Mendenhall with that first pick. We ended up with Jenkins a few picks later and that made me happy. Now, of course, I'm so glad we have Felix and still have my fingers crossed about Jenkins. Sometimes, it's not so bad to be wrong...
