We might be waiting to grab someone off Seattle's staff. The Cowboys historically don't make moves hastily when it comes to coaching changes...and they don't let the cat out of the bag.

This would be a great move if so

There will not be a 2014 scapegoat. This is Garrett's last dance. At least it should be.

This year should have been his last dance, but JJ has this weird fixation with a 500 coach.

I am not counting on JJ coming to his senses next year either, when we are once again 500 (or worse).........I can already see him now saying you cant walk away when that next swing of your pick finds gold.

LOL..............sure Jerry, your scrub 500 coach is gong to turn into Lombardi if you give him just one more swing with the pick axe.

Ever heard of "Too many cooks in the kitchen?" Beyond that it sounds like he might be disgruntled that he lost the play calling duties after just 1 season where the Cowboys ranked 5th in scoring. Most OCs would be.

In the world I live in, you'd give this guy his walking papers.
Everyone has a role.

I thought Romo audibles out if Garrett's run plays? I also thought Romo takes too many risks which ruins Garrett's play calling?

Romo should just turn off his helmet mike and just call all the plays from the line.

How many OCs and DCs do we have to go through because Garrett cant get it done?

Good question….Seriously…how many? Its got to start to be embarrassing for Jason. I kinda feel bad for him but no one really knows who is making these calls but none of the moves since Jason took over as HC really make much sense or give an impression of a real plan unfolding. I would guess your lost your staff at this point, thats why you keep bringing in more.

I do not feel bad for him in the least. He knew what he was getting into working for an imbecile like Jones.

LOL at the folks saying the backs are going to be more involved in the offense now..................maybe running pass routes, but they can forget about handoffs.

Yup. Nothing in his past points to him getting the RBs involved more in a traditional sense. I was quoted earlier and told they were throw to a lot but that isn't what we need. Murray was one of the top back for yards per attempt. Why not exploit that? Part of the Lions undoing for the past 2 years have a) losing leads when teams took pass away the second half b) failure in the red zone and c) developing the QB. So what is he adding? Also, if he ad Red were buddies and coached together then hey have the same philosophy. That philosophy has been to chuck it around. So not sure where the running rumors would come from unless "getting involved" is code for "dump offs when play breaks down."

I also am not one that thinks just because he has a job today doesn't mean he will still have a job tomorrow. The hiring of Scott Linehan is proof positive of that concept.

Hmm. It's almost as if I knew something ahead of time.

LOL@ppl quoting themselves, while dropping remarkably unsubtle hints that they're the forum board equivalent of Eddie Snowden.

Some stuff I found online.

“We feel like the combination of Bill and Scott working with the rest of our staff will be really good for our team,” Garrett said. “That's the structure we'll go back to. It's more about the opportunity to bring in Scott Linehan than anything else. I thought we did a lot of positive things on offense this past year. The system remains in place with the tweaks and evolutions you make with the freshness new coaches can bring in, I think all of those are positive.”

Nick Saban on Linehan in 2006:

"I want to congratulate Scott on his selection as the Rams new head coach. I know he will be a tremendous asset to that organization and wish him the best of success in St. Louis.

"He did an outstanding job for us in Miami, and before that with the Minnesota Vikings. Before Scott joined the Dolphins, I considered him to be one of the most innovative offensive coaches in the league, and after working with him this past season, I also came to appreciate his work ethic and organizational skills. I have a great deal of respect for Scott and I know he is well qualified to be a head coach in the NFL."

Double Duty

Scott Linehan had been waiting for the right day for a planned rite of passage: the day someone else would get the privilege of calling plays. "I always felt when I became a head coach, that I wanted to turn that over," said Linehan, previously offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings and Dolphins. "I knew I couldn't do it right away because it was a system where I had been calling plays 15 years, and it's hard to just get what you want." Now Linehan's St. Louis Rams were 4-6, coming off a shutout loss to Carolina.

Report: Linehan Top Choice To Lead Rams
By Harvey Fialkov Staff Writer, January 19, 2006
After one season as Dolphins offensive coordinator, it appears Scott Linehan is on the verge of becoming the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. According to two media reports citing sources -- by CBS.Sportsline.com and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch -- Linehan is the Rams' choice to replace Mike Martz, who was fired after taking a midseason leave of absence due to a heart infection. Interim coach Joe Vitt took over for Martz, who could become a candidate to replace Linehan, because both favor a wide-open, vertical passing attack and gadget plays.

Linehan Leaves Mark On Dolphins
By Harvey Fialkov Staff Writer, August 31, 2006
It's hardly a coincidence that the Dolphins' six-game winning streak at the end of the 2005 season coincided with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan shifting from the coaches' box upstairs to the sideline. The Dolphins averaged nearly 10 points more a game during that streak and improved overall from the 29th-ranked offense in 2004 to 14th, including going from 31st in rushing to 12th. Linehan will be back on the sidelines tonight at Dolphin Stadium, except he'll be on the St. Louis Rams' side as their rookie head coach.
