biggest problem this offense has had is I think JG trolls the forums. When they pass too much one week, they stick too the run detrimentally the next, as in the other team is stacking 8 in the box daring them to pass and they run into the defense off tackle for 1 yard for a whole half, then realize hey wait we have passes in this weeks game plane. They over think the gameplan way too much. Sometimes it is better to run in an obvious run down or pass in an obvious pass down. YOu see it witht eh Kill, Kill, Kill, calls. Teams know this and they shift to a pass look so Romo and JG will audible to run even though the look may say pass the play is a run defense or vice versa.

I just don't get it. In his first year as the OC, our red zone scoring increased to #3 (up from #20 the 2 prior years), PPG (#5), Points per Play (#2). Our blocking was improved and Romo, even with the injury most of the year, put up good numbers. Our short yardage offense was much better, as well. Basically, all of the problems that have been plaguing the offense for years were fixed.

Callahan was not fired for lack of production, we were top 5 scoring offense........he was fired because Garrett didn't like him.

The article is speculation. The fact is this offense was very productive.

Eh. I think it's a bit of both. Seems like fact that he delayed a vacation to work toward understanding the concepts.

But the offense, certainly was productive enough.

Whether or not that was because of Callahan is hard to say. I feel like our offensive line was better last year than it's been since 2009, but then again Romo looked pretty average compared to years past.

Hard to say what was going on and who should be credited... although I think you can directly relate red-zone success to Desmond Demond Bryant and the improved OL. but I don't think Callahan was a problem.

Where is all this allegiance to Bill Callahan coming from? It's mind boggling. You'd think he was throwing neighborhood potlucks for some of the guys here the way they're going about.

You see a potential for an upgrade you take it. It's that simple.

Funny how Callahan gets one year of improved play, while Garrett gets decades if deteriorating play and the excuses that go with it.

BTW, what ever happened to Romo being more involved?

For some posters it's simple: whatever moves makes/doesn't make is the wrong move.

Why is Garrett still here?

Let this fact sink in:

Callahan did better with Garrett's offense than the architect of the offense did....

This hire isn't about the defense. Not sure what hiring a playcaller has to do with the defense at all.

You just proved his point.

We were a top 5 scoring offense and had what, 3 games where the other team never even punted...........so of course the logical move is to fire the OC and hire a new play caller.

In other words, the offense was not the problem last year................We scored 48 points at home and lost...........first team in NFL history to do that...........so why are we leaving the defense alone and not changing jack about it, but got to have a new OC play caller.

Makes no sense other than Garrett is "more comfortable" with his BFF from Detroit.

so what about a defensive coordinator. Oh nothing wrong with one of the worst defenses in cowboys history.

I'll say it again:

Catering to Jason. Garrett is the biggest disfunction in this organization theist seven years. It's been happening since the Wade era.

You must have missed the 10,000 Jason Garrett hate threads already. This thread is about Scott Linehan.

How is he an improvement? They were worse in scoring with more yards. They had more TOs. He plays a power blocking scheme, unlike our zone blocking, the actual highlight of our offense this year.

He's here because of Garrett. It makes no sense outside this point.

LOL at the folks saying the backs are going to be more involved in the offense now..................maybe running pass routes, but they can forget about handoffs.

I thought Romo audibles out if Garrett's run plays? I also thought Romo takes too many risks which ruins Garrett's play calling?
