He's been battling a groin injury but he played the last two preseason games. I heard nothing about him aggravating it so I think this is just the Cowboys stashing him for a while before the roster settles.

These days, who knows? It's out of control.

I don't love Downs in 13. That was Overshown before he was 0. Gallup, Fowler, Whitehead, etc.

The problem is the amount of Downs jerseys sold since May. A lot of people would demand refunds or replacements if Downs suddenly switched numbers again. At least for 2026 it looks like he's staying in 13.

Not much. He had several drops in the Saints game too. He just didn’t play well.

For what it's worth, reports are Carson was better in camp and in practice than he was in preseason. But like you said, his roster spot feels like a placeholder until another corner gets here. And he only stays if a deal falls through.

The surprises for me are Cornelius over Keegan or Leverett, that we actually cut Sam and kept the better player in Wheat and Speed and Carson over Steward, I expect something to change at the corner position.

He just did not look good in the preseason at all and also has not looked good whenever he's been on the field during the regular season.

He did okay to good, not great. Said it then that what he did then was nothing extraordinary to unseat Schoonmaker. So if that was his best performance, him not making it to the 53 is not a surprise.
