Dallas Cowboys interested in Lance Briggs

We have something like 12 LBers on the roster if you include Ro. You count discount his experience but he's a two down player now IMO. We have Brinkley, Hitchens, Gachkar and Lee who can play the Mike not including Ro whom I think won't be signed. If you put Hitchens at the Sam and Lee the Will then you are thin at Mike. So I suppose they could bring him in for a short term contract with little or no guaranteed money.

I don't like our situation in the Nickel. They may have more confidence in Watson and some others to play that role. Even Lee is not optimal at that although gets by via instincts.

.......another meeting room with standing room only.......

Can he even play 1/3 of the snaps anymore?

I can't see this unless he's coming here very cheap as part of depth/rotation.

Progress stopper. Draft a LB instead. What can Briggs really bring and offer.

I like him for 2 reasons:

1. He will be cheap, veteran depth at a position that is injury plagued. No one will ask him to start-- but he can play some snaps and fill out a rotation.

2. He knows the position and Marinelli's system, and won't kill us with mistakes-- a younger player may have more upside athletically-- but they can hurt us by being out of position or lacking awareness. Briggs would bring more football IQ to the defense-- and that's a good thing.

Give him a 1-2 year deal and continue adding young guys through the draft.

I don't believe the story. What about the Cowboys over the last 3-4 seasons has shown that they would have any interest in bringing in a 35 year old defender?

Moar!!!!!! over the hill ex-bears/ ex-bucs who have experience in the Tampa 2!!!!!!

Just like we were interested in Urlacher.....oh, that's right we were not.

If Dallas hires Dr. Emmett Brown and his DeLorean from back to the future and picks up Lance from 2011 I would say lets do it. lol

Briggs was done 3 years ago...................we must be pretty desperate to be climbing up that tree.

I think you are right about Hitch. He and Brinkley will split the MIKE. Lee will handle the WILL and Watson/Rivers/Draft will cover the SAM. Gachkar, Wilber, Smith?, Lawrence fight for depth.

Would love it. Great guy to counterbalance bringing Hardy into the locker room.

Plus, Lee will be back to leading this defense. Hopefully he stays healthy....
