So we got a "tough guy" who has a penchant for the actual problem that led to our demise, that being penalties? Yeah...get "tough". And if they were trying to get tougher, there were a few tough additions they could have added in FA to make us downright scary. Jerry doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
...and by the way, what is your hat size?

Dallas Cowboys invested in toughness – will it pay off?

This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys set out on a mission: get tougher. After getting physically manhandled in the postseason, it was clear something had to change. For as good as the 12-win Cowboys were in 2021, they were severely lacking in the physicality department.

Highly talented players like WR Amari Cooper and RT La’el Collins were deemed overpriced and all-too-often, unavailable. Replacing them with tougher versions and building the roster with “toughness” as a key trait became an overt goal.

Just because our FOs knows how take a negative thing from 2021 and turn it into something they can be in the media (and so earn money) with doesnt mean we...

a) have any kind of goal to get tougher
b) are getting tougher with the players we drafted

Lets first see what we are made of during game time before we believe the crap our FO wants to sell us.

We need more mental toughness and higher football IQ on this team.

More goes on with knowledge assimilation than blame reinforcements...

To me “toughness” is subjective
I see they invest in high effort players
Guys that give 100% every play
The perfect player to me is a smart, high effort player who loves the game and can’t accept losing
Effort, and smarts show up on film
The love of the game is harder to measure

Ask the loser in a boxing match if tough is subjective...

Compared to San Francisco it was an issue, they straight up bullied both fronts of Dallas.
And then undisciplined Randy Gregory committed a STUPENDOUSLY, STUPID penalty that left us little time for a comeback.
But you're right, this team played scared. Tough teams don't play scared.
We need both discipline and tough players.

Being a better boxer makes you tougher, or just a better boxer
The toughest guy in the nfl wouldn’t last one round against a pro boxer, so does that mean he’s really not tough at all

I just hope that the "toughness" stays on the field and doesn't translate to off field issues like domestic assault or battery.

Just win, baby.

I don't care what your individual stats look like unless they lead to winning.
The Cowboys have a reputation of being a heartless, soft, team that quits when they are facing big, physical, mean opponents. As a fan, I can’t deny it or defend those accusations because they are the truth. Dallas doesn’t have an intimidating, mean player on the roster. Changing the type of players that they draft would be a welcomed change, but I doubt it will happen. There is not one drop of evidence that leading me to believe that a big culture change is in the works.

Even if you draft those guys they can be overcome by the soft culture already firmly in place.

It'll take about 10 special guys with real attitudes to actually make real changes.

Very true but I don't think getting a couple of "tough" players is gonna solve the issue, the change has to come from the coach as long as Jerry is GM.

A no nonsense coach is what this team needs to change the culture...tired of seeing this team getting punked.
The entire culture needs changed from the top to the bottom. The current team tucks tail and runs when opponents smack them in the mouth. The country club atmosphere that Jerry has created in Dallas is one of the worst atmospheres in all of sports.

That's alright, no real topic discussion was expected...as if relevance needed a name. Stereotype fly by...

"No real topic discussion was expected"...said the somebody who started the conversation off with an attempt at a zinger from "Zingers for Beginners".
Seriously, who are you?

just because you get punched and beat up doesnt mean youre not tough

lack of discipline was the issue with San Fran..they got punched, they punched back san fran adjusted and we started commiting nonsense penalties
