I am glad you elaborated on how you define 'legend'. It is different from mine.Probably not. I don’t remember the rings as well as others so for guys like me who didn’t see Bob Lilly and Randy White play….guys like Romo and Dez are our legends….might be crazy for some to think but yeah I was an adult when these guys came around I was a child when Mike and Emmitt played.
I was three when Don Meredith threw his last pass. I was born the year before Jim Brown left the NFL permanently for Hollywood.
Meredith quarterbacked the franchise during its infancy from relative obscurity to the first prominent stages of professional football. Arguably, Brown was the preeminent standard for running back greatness for all players that came after him.
I have seen their highlights. Ex-players, coaches and media have discussed who they meant to their teams and the NFL. Their legacies sit within the Pro Football Hall of Fame for all generations to take in, learn and reflect upon for as long as it exists.
Both of these players are examples of legends in my opinion. It was not necessary for me to see them play. No one person thinks the same, but... I do not know. I do not understand how not knowing anyone, who has done something important, automatically diminishes that aspect of their life or career.
EDIT: Meredith is in the Hall but as a broadcaster and not as a player.
